This is a small book of poetry by Madame de Basily in English. Her story can be read on the Hoover Institution website. She is American born and the donor of the items in the Nicolas de Basily room. This book was published in Paris the year after her marriage in November, 1919. Her husband was the Diplomat of Imperial Russia 1903 - 1917. The poetry in this 31 page book is dated 1915 - 1917. It appears to be one of a kind. There are marbled end papers plus three from, front and back. The cover has wear as shown. There is foxing from page 21 onward. The poems are titled: In Tifles, The Cry of Holy Russia, Anarchist Lullaby, Human Wreckage, Afternoon Service in the Alexander Newsky Monastery, The Kremlin, White Night on the Gulf of Finland,Republic of Cronstadt, ProphesyTo Life. There is also a dedication to her mother. Mr. and Mrs. de Basily are buried in Baltimore. Land, Estates, and Wealth were never recovered in Russia.
