The paper wrap slipcase is in good condition. Egon Leo Adolf Ludwig Schiele (1890 – 1918) was an Austrian Expressionist painter. His work is noted for its intensity and its raw sexuality, and for the many self-portraits the artist produced, including nude self-portraits. The twisted body shapes and the expressive line that characterize Schiele's paintings and drawings mark the artist as an early exponent of Expressionism. Gustav Klimt, a figurative painter of the early 20th century, was a mentor to Schiele.

Bunnell, Robert Adams, Therese Thau Heyman, Esetelle Jussim, Amy Conger, Mike Weaver, Andy Grundberg, Alan Trachtenberg, Charis Wilson, Paul Vanderbilt. Edward Henry Weston (1886 – 1958) was an American photographer. Over the course of his 40-year career Weston photographed an increasingly expansive set of subjects, including landscapes, still lifes, nudes, portraits, genre scenes and even whimsical parodies. It is said that he developed a quintessentially American, and especially Californian, approach to modern photography because of his focus on the people and places of the American West.

Description:
Times Books, 2010. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 5x1x8. In Very Good+ condition and Very Good+ dustjacket. Since he first heralded our era of environmental collapse in 1989's The End of Nature, Bill McKibben has raised a series of eloquent alarms. In Eaarth, he leads readers to the devastatingly comprehensive conclusion that we no longer inhabit the world in which we've flourished for most of human history: we've passed the tipping point for dramatic climate change, and even if we could stop emissions yesterday, our world will keep warming, triggering more extreme storms, droughts, and other erratic catastrophes, for centuries to come. This is not just our grandchildren's problem, or our children's--we're living through the effects of climate change now, and it's time for us to get creative about our survival. McKibben pulls no punches, and swaths of this book can feel bleak, but his dry wit and pragmatic optimism refuse to yield to despair. Focusing our attention on… Read More

Description:
Shire Publications, 2008. 2nd ed. Softcover. Like New. 5x0x8. This widely praised introduction, now extensively revised and enlarged, examines the predominantly warrior and aristocraftic art of the Iron Age inhabitants of Britain and Ireland from the fourth century BC until the Roman conquest. Since these communities, conventionally referred to as Celts, were peoples with an oral tradition, medieval Irish and Welsh texts embodying these traditions are a very uncertain guide to the life and culture of peoples of upwards of a millennium earlier. Celtic art is thus one of the rare, if obscured, windows into the minds and souls of early Celts. Much of the surviving art decorates metalwork, usually weapons or items of personal adornment; there is little or no securely dated sculpture, whether in stone or wood. This is an art style whose imagery is elusive, non-representational and non-narrative, and thus difficult to analyse. This book looks at Celtic art made by communities who lived in Britain and… Read More

Description:
Grand Teton National History, 1994. First edition. Trade paperback. Very Good. Pioneer photographer William Henry Jackson aimed his camera at the high peaks. Gently, he removed the cap covering the lens. Focused on the wet glass plate was the image of the Teton Mountains, a sight heretofore known only to a handful of Indians, trappers and explorers. The year: 1872. In the decades to follow many skilled photographers arrived in the Teton country to record the spectacular beauty of natural features and wildlife. A few chose for subjects the human activity, documenting the life of the sportsmen, early settlers, ranchers and dudes. They photographed the growing communities of Jackson Hole and the struggles to cope with the elements. Over the years, these pictures formed a colorful history of the country, and were to influence the establishment of the National elk Refuge and Grand Teton National Park. Recognizing the importance of these photographs, Virginia Huidekoper assembled a permanent file to be… Read More

Description:
Dover Publications, 1992. Trade paperback. Fine. In 1902, four years after Gustav Stickley began building furniture in his United Crafts Workshops in Eastwood, New York, his brother Leopold established his own Arts and Crafts furniture business a few miles away in Fayetteville, a suburb of Syracuse, to which he soon recruited his brother J. George. They initially used the trademark "Onondaga Shops," for the county in which it was located; by 1910 they were labeling their furniture "Handcraft."Like their brother Gustav's designs, those of L. and J. G. Stickley include many first-rate examples of American Arts and Crafts style. This unique volume provides a comprehensive look at their early achievement, combining reprints of extremely rare copies of two sets of promotional literature from approximately 1906-09 and 1909.The first is a handbound salesman's catalog, circa 1906-09, presenting 129 wash drawings and eight photographs of Onondaga Shops furniture. Description:
Graywolf Press, 2002. First Edition. Hardcover. Like New/Fine . 5x1x11. Signed by Author. Signed "Kim Stafford" on title page. With incredible insight and love, Kim Stafford offers a view into the remarkable life of his father, the poet William Stafford. The unspoken deep affection he lived by was like the idea in his poem about the Eskimos―their disdain for "People who talk about God." In his world, a fact so pervasive as love never need be named. William Stafford wrote a poem nearly every day of his life, most often before dawn, as he lay on a much-used couch that bore the imprint of his body after years of use. He was a prolific, highly acclaimed poet, famous pacifist, and extraordinary friend to nearly everyone he met. But Kim was given perhaps his father's greatest gift―and greatest challenge―to be his literary executor. Carefully sifting through his father's papers―thousands of poems written on… Read More

Arcadia Publishing, 2006. Softcover. Like New. 6x0x9. As west as metropolitan Los Angeles’s trendy Westside gets, Santa Monica has enjoyed a colorful history as both a resort community and a bedrock hometown on the Southern California coast. As a playground and ready-made set for Hollywood, traditional hotbed of progressive politics, and amorphous fun zone for a greater century of visitors, the city of Santa Monica has remained at the forefront of the evolution of California culture. Prior to World War II, Santa Monica was a collection of distinct neighborhoods―Santa Monica Canyon and Ocean Park among them―and its pier, built in 1909 beneath the bluffs of Palisades Park, became a regional draw, especially after the nation’s largest dance emporium, La Monica Ballroom, was built on it. The vintage photographs in this tour through Santa Monica’s beginnings and its growth through the early 20th century were… Read More
