The daughter of Charles Kemble and niece of Sarah Siddens and John Philip Kemble. She married Pierce Butler a southern planter from Philadelphia in 1834 where she went to live. She left him in 1845 over disagreements over slavery ( as Butler owned a plantation and used Black slaves). She became an advocate for anti-slavery in this Victorian era.
