Hunter Middleton to print his Bewick blocks, I discovered over seventy printed sheets of The Old Woman and The Empty Cask. Knowing that Middleton had printed some fable blocks for Graham Williams and his Florin Press in England in 1980, I contacted Graham and learned that he had indeed run short of this particular fable and had requested more copies. Bound at the Turkey Press in the split-board style with a black linen spine and handmade kakishibu paper over the boards.

When the work was reissued, it was done in two separate volumes with the second volume devoted entirely to the subject of decorated paper. Wolfe calls this work "possibly the first known attempt to explain comprehensively all of the methods and facets of colored paper."
