The author, Nick Harris, was a crimes reporter for the Los Angeles newspaper, the Los Angeles Times, then a Los Angeles Police Department detective, and then established the famous Nick Harris Detective Agency in Los Angeles. Many of his stories and experiences in his career he wrote about as a professional writer. There was also a radio series about his adventures. This recounts both the history and drama of 1920's and 1930's Los Angeles.
