Amsterdam: Chez Zacharie Chatelain, 1728. Complete in 5 parts (various paginations) with frontispiece and 242 half-page engravings by Henri Cause, many based on those of François Chauveau. There also are attractiveengraved tailpieces following many of the fables. The 5th part of the Fables is not included in many editions; so this more complete edition is quite desirable. Recently and sympathetically rebound in full leather with the original spine and front & rear panels laid down. Internally clean with only an occasional hint of foxing; small chips out of margins of 5 leaves, not affecting text or images. This is the scarce third photographic monograph published by the award-winning British documentary photographer Martin Parr. Troy, New York: Charles Francis Himes, 1861. Charles Francis Himes (1838-1918) was a physicist who was an avid amateur photographer as early as the late 1850s. From the beginning he noted on the verso of his stereoviews the subject, place, and date the photograph was taken. Thus, on this stereoview in his hand are the notations "Falls of Poestenkill," "near Troy, N. Y.", and "Printed Oct. 1861." The stereoview is in very good condition.. First Edition. Paper. First printing of the first edition of this collection of prose poems by the 20th century American poet whose work has been favorably compared to that of Walt Whitman and William Blake. The book is clean and tight, with foxing on first and last few pages, that is, as usual, a little heavier on the back of the frontispiece and the facing page with list of previous titles. Paris: Teriade, 1958. Original color lithograph after a Matisse cut-out that was one of a series of blue nudes and one of the artist's final works. Signed in the stone. The lithograph was drawn under the supervision of Matisse, who signed only a few of the stones--it has been reported that he signed only those that especially pleased him. This lithograph was completed prior to Matisse's death in 1954, but published in its first and only edition in the deluxe French art review Verve in 1958. There was not a pencil-signed edition. The image is 10 1/4 inches by 9 1/4 inches inches on a sheet of wove paper that is 13 1/2 inches by 9 3/4 inches. The lithograph is clean and bright. This stereoview was one of ten that Fortescue Mann exhibited at the Forty-first Annual Exhibition of the Royal Photographic Society (1896), under the title, Exhibit No. 367: STEREOSCOPIC TRANSPARENCIES. Ten Slides (In the Stereoscope). Note: There is some debate over whether the London views by Fortescue Mann were taken by John Fortescue Mann (1848-1897) or by his son Reginald Fortescue Mann (1881-1916). David Simkin (Sussex Photo History) attributes them to the father while Douglas Heil (The Art of Stereography) attributes them to the son. Full color cover art depicts a Nativity scene by Kelly Freas The original 3-D glasses are NOT present, but we have laid in 2 pairs: a 1950s children's 3-D glasses that was a Puff's Sugar Crisp cereal premium and a more generic adult pair. The comic book is in about very good condition: Tight, bright, and attractive, with light soiling at edges of covers, a small (faint) stain on back cover, and supple pages that are very lightly (uniformly) tanned..
