"During the 1960s, under the direction of Irving Blum, Ferus became one of the most significant galleries on the West Coast. This exhibition will feature twenty-two of the Ferus artists, with many works on loan from…

London: MACK, 2019. New. 31 x 23 cm. 80 pages. Red buckram, embossed, in a silkscreened sleeve. Limited edition, one of 150 copies with a collotype print produced by Japanese atelier Benrido. Numbered and stamped by the Masahisa Fukase Archives. "For three generations the Fukase family ran a photography studio in Bifuka, a small provincial town in the northern Japanese province of Hokkaido. In August 1971, at the age of 35, Masahisa Fukase returned home from Tokyo, where he had moved in the 1950s. He realised that the Fukase Photographic Studio, which his younger brother managed, combined with the growing family members, constituted the perfect subject for a series of portraits. Between 1971 and 1989, he returned regularly and used the family studio, the large-format Anthony view camera and the changing family line-up as the basis for the series. True to his style, Fukase often introduced third-party models and humorous elements to juxtapose the ineluctable reality of time passing and the dwindling…

Scalo, 1994. A near fine copy, the covers slightly bowed and with some light wear to the corners. Folio (14.5 x 11 inches). Blank-and-white photography. Original pictorial boards. First edition, presentation copy, inscribed by Peress to pioneering photo-gallerist Marjorie Neikrug in bold silver ink on the title: "For Marge / Gilles Peress." "Farewell to Bosnia covers a period of almost six months during 1993, focusing primarily on the areas of Tuzla, central Bosnia, Mostar and Sarajevo. The work was initiated by Francois Hers, who was familiar with Peress's ongoing project about the reemerging patterns of hate and discrimination in Europe - Hate Thy Brother - and who, because of his contacts in Bosnia, felt the urgency to have a visual documentation of what was happening in the Balkans. Peress set out to provide an illustrated continuum of experience and existence, and only having a small period of time could not explain everything that was occurring in Bosnia; not the historical intricacies of the…
