There are illustrations throughout by a variety of artists, including Winslow Homer and F.O.C. Darley. Nicely bound in full leather with a gilt border around the edges of the covers, gilt lettering and accents on the spine, gilt page edges on all sides, marbled end papers, five raised bands on the spine, and a decorative gilt border along the edges of the inside covers.Condition:There are a few areas on the covers where the blue leather has faded; worn corners. Description:
Nicely illustrated antique copy of "The Golden Age" by Kenneth Grahame with wonderful illustrations throughout by MAXFIELD PARRISH. 1900; John Lane: The Bodley Head; London. The book features an illustrated title page, 18 full-page plates, and vignettes at the end of the chapters by Parrish. Gilt top page edges. There is a 2-page catalog at the back of the book.Condition:Clean covers; the gilt lettering on the spine has partially faded; sharp corners. There is a small, dark stain spot at the top-right corner of the spine. Tight binding with no cracks. Nice interior - the pages are mostly clean with only some foxing to some of the illustrated plates; small tear at the outer edge of page 5. The illustrated plate after page 76 is present but has detached. The front end paper has a name written in pencil, and an old inscription written in pen. Overall the book is in Very Good condition.
