Wetumka, I.T., 1890. 4 7/8 x 6 1/2 in. Photo mounted on stiff card stock, showing group of men, including a soldier in uniform, lined up on the porch in front of the H.H. Holman general store which was founded by Holman in his mid twenties. A smaller sign advertises the sale of Star Brand Shoes, made in St. Louis. Holman later became a banker and a notable man in early Oklahoma history. Clear image, faint old ink note partially rubbed away, else a clear image. Ink note on verso: "This is old Wetumka first store SC."

[Cincinnati (OH): H.W. Derby & Co, 1849. Single sheet, printed on blue paper, folded. 26 cm. [4] pp., including one page of text, [2pp. blank], addressed on fourth page to G. & C. Merriam, Springfield, Mass., with a round stamped red postal mark. Old fold lines, a few closed tears, else very good. The firm of H.W. Derby & Co. assures the public that the November 15 fire which lately damaged their place of business and destroyed a large portion of their stock will not stop them from filling orders for books, stationery and other articles. They have purchased the entire stock of Messrs. Bradley & Anthony who have decided to retire, and will move into their store at No. 113 Main Street immediately. Once their building at 145 Main Street is repaired, they will return there. Signed in type by H.W. Derby & Co., Cincinnati, November 23d, 1849. No listings found on OCLC. George and Charles Merriam, to whom this copy was addressed were successful book publishers and sellers in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Small printed slip tipped onto one of the panels promising a 20% discount for all rooms occupied to January 15th. Printed broadside, 15 3/4 x 13 1/4 inches, employing several styles and sizes of type, including display types for the headline (1 1/2 inches tall) and "Town-Lots" (3/4 inch tall). Wright and Goodenow were both lawyers, practicing in Steubenville, Ohio, at the time this broadside was printed; they both later became judges and both served in the United States House of Representatives. Handlin was authorized to build a toll-bridge over the Big Sandy on the road leading from Steubenville to Canton on 21 December 1814; his completion of the task is mentioned in the broadside. A neatly calligraphic document, the marriage license, "State of Mississippi, Adams County, to any Judge, Minister, or Justice, lawfully authorized to celebrate the Rites of Matrimony," is on the upper two- thirds of the page decorated with two small hand colored doves, and hand lettered text within a border of colored lines, affixed with an official seal. Signed by R.A. Inge, Clerk; and Chas. Sheldon. The lower third of the page, also in manuscript, prints the statement of Pastor Jos. B. Stratton of the Presbyterian Church in Natchez that he had joined the two "in the holy state of matrimony" on Dec. 29, 1846. William K.
