[New York, London & Toronto]: Bantam Books, [1970].. 12mo. Pictorial metallic finish stiff wrapper. Heavily illustrated throughout, printed in black and green. Very minor use to wrapper, otherwise a near fine copy of this title. Paperbound original Y6305 (later printings featured a less innovative wrapper design). A touchstone for its era, and perhaps beyond, with parallel inverse texts, one printed in black, one in green. Uncommon in decent condition, as here.

[Zurich: The Artist, 1984].. 16 panel leporello. Executed in a 'found' satin covered remembrance folder (15 x 10.5 cm). Album cover very slightly soiled, internally fine. An original artist's book by Hartmann, signed, titled and dated by him on the rear pastedown. Each panel bears a watercolor drawing or design. Laid in is a photo postcard of the artist. Amsterdam: Galerie Da Costa, 1979.. Suite of 8 original color etchings (incorporating text), plus title leaf and justification. Oblong quarto (25 x 32.5 cm). Laid into printed wrappers with pictorial vignette, the whole laid into a pictorial cloth folder with linen strapping. Fine. First edition. One of fifty numbered copies, signed by the artist, in addition to six copies hors commerce and the prototype set of the etchings. The eight etchings collectively present the late artist's self-portrait, with the comment: "Of course this book, if you are willing to forget what a book looks like, is that kind of exhibitionism Andre Breton should have called 'un livre à la porte battante'."

London & Paris, January 1970.. [1],13,[3]pp. Folio. Pictorial self wrapper. Illustrations and photos. Horizontal fold, slight rumpling, very good. The English language counterpart to the alternative paper established initially in Paris, edited by Jean-Edern Hallier, et al. Hallier inaugurated the French language militant alternative paper with the backing of Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir after the 1968 student uprising. This original Paris iteration ceased publication in 1973. Only nine numbers of this English language version appeared.

London: Wm. Smith, 1846.. [4],[5]-8pp. plus extra illuminated color title and 39 additional chromolithographed plates, with accompanying text leaves and tissue guards. Large quarto (33 x 26 cm). Contemporary three quarter calf, neatly rebacked in cloth with the original backstrip laid down and new endsheets, a.e.g. Extremities somewhat shelf- worn, occasional typical slight tanning and some isolated foxing to some of the text leaves, a small spot to half-title and first guard has left a faint shadow at the lower corner of the pictorial title, slight cracking at gutter between a few plates and their text leaves, otherwise a very good copy. First edition of this ambitious (and popular) work, featuring color-printed plates reproducing examples from some twenty-five manuscripts from the BM, Oxford, Trinity and other locations. London: Printed for the Author, and Sold by Henry Webley, 1768.. [4],26pp. Quarto. Extracted from nonce pamphlet volume. Some ink computations and other annotations on half-title, author's name writ large in ink at head of first page of text, outer leaves dusty and a bit soiled, some closed tears in gutter from spine; just a good copy, with the half title. First edition. The author, in his several other publications, was associated with St. Peter's College, Cambridge. His opening stanza connects this work to its predecessor, THE SNARLERS. ESTC T74934.

Austin: The Encino Press, 1968.. Large octavo. Reversed calf backed printed boards, gilt label. A bit of slight tanning at endsheet gutters, otherwise near fine in fine slipcase. First edition, corrected printing, limited issue. One of 250 numbered copies, specially printed on untrimmed Artlaid paper, specially bound, and signed by the author. This copy is also signed by the publisher/designer Wm. Wittliff on the recto of the rear free endsheet. A collection of essays marking a watershed in Southwestern letters.

Storrs: Univ. of Connecticut, 25 April 1972.. Folded quarto leaflet on stiff stock (25.5 x 18 cm). Top edge a shade darkened, a few small dust spots, else near fine. First edition. One of an edition of five hundred copies (of which the first twelve were to be signed by Duncan). This copy bears his signed presentation inscription to his chief trade publisher at the time, James Laughlin, and is also initialed and dated at the end of the text. BERTHOLF A42a.

Spine very slightly cocked, faint, small pencil ownership note in corner of the half-title, otherwise about fine in dust jacket with slightest hint of sunning to the spine.

Light rubbing at edges, spine slightly sunned, but a very good copy. First edition, first printing. A fascinating work, including a chronological list of all Wright's projects, with comments. Very good for the cumbersome format. Uncorrected page proofs of the first edition. Evidently the master set of galleys, with numerous corrections and revisions throughout in an unknown hand, perhaps editorial, perhaps authorial.

Modest rubbing at edges of boards, but a very good copy, with the delicate printed spine label intact, without dust jacket. First edition. The "First Annual Public Lecture on Books & Bibliography."

The controversy and expenses associated with the 1973 OZ obscenity trial dictated its short life. An initialed inscription at the top margin of the cover pages identifies it as "Ed Victor's mag - RC."

Atlanta: Nexus Press, 1993.. Quarto (29 x 21 cm). Stiff decorated wrappers. Color illustrations and pop-ups. Fine, with instruction sheet and 12 extra tab strips laid in. First edition. One of "hopefully" 600 copies printed on Mohawk Poseidon 80 pound cover stock. Both a "how-to" and an example of the pop-up art by the proprietor of Popular Kinetics Press, undertaken in the course of a Nexus Press residence award. In the author's online résumé of book productions, she indicates the edition actually consisted of 250 copies.

New York: Dodd, Mead, [nd. but ca. 1891?].. Rose cloth over boards, lettered in yellow, top edge stained brown. Spine a trifle darkened, with some hand-smudging to cloth, small nick at crown of spine, but a very good copy. An American issue of the British sheets. Mason/Millard was unable to examine a copy of the American issue of the first edition sheets, but describes a literal date in the title-imprint, in a binding of the same color of cloth as this copy, with the same overall dimensions. However, the American issue of the second London edition does bear a literal date (1894) in the title imprint, and is bound in tan cloth. Hence the copy in hand is most likely not a variant of the American issue of the second edition, and may very well be the American issue of the first edition sheets (600 copies), at variance from Mason/Millard's speculative description. With the pencil ownership inscription of American publisher Ingalls Kimball, dated Chicago August 1894. MASON/MILLARD 343.

New York: Dodd, Mead, 1894.. Tan cloth, lettered in dark brown. Cloth a bit soiled, front inner hinge cracking, light pencil notes on rear endsheets, but a good copy. American issue of the second edition, one of five hundred copies bound up from British sheets. This copy bears an 1897 gift inscription to bookman and future publisher Mitchell Kennerley on the first blank, from an unidentified Mr. MacArthur. MASON/MILLARD 344.

Worcester: Stanbrook Abbey Press, 1968.. Quarter silk-backed wood laminate over boards (bound by Weatherby Woolnaugh). Errata slip tipped in back. Fine in unprinted glassine wrapper. First edition in this format, ordinary issue. From an edition of 350 copies printed in Cancelleresca Bastarda on Hodgkinson handmade paper with three hand-lettered coloured initials, two of them executed by Margaret Alexander, this is one of 310 ordinary copies.
