Small 8vo, pp. [22], 266, 238; title page printed in red and black; woodcut printer's device and initials; full contemporary calf (dampstained), gilt spine in 6 compartments, all edges speckled red; 18th- or early 19th-century owner's notes on recto and verso of front free endpaper, ownership signature "Caroli Honorii Sardon" (?) on title page; late 19th-century ownership signature "A. Boulange" on front pastedown with his or her rubber stamps on title page and *2; text block fine. First published in 1631, this "secured the fairly uniform teaching of Latin throughout the continent" (Printing and the Mind of Man, 139, citing Comenius's Orbis Sensualium Pictus, 1654), and appeared in various language combinations for the better part of two centuries, the last edition with which we are familiar being that of Paris, 1898.
