The image measures about 4 x 5.5 inches, on a sheet measuring about 6 x 7.5 inches. Small corner torn from lower corner of sheet, pin-holes in corners, a nice clean copy. One of a recently-acquired collection of adorable dog etchings by Morgan Dennis; a nice impression.

Leipzig: Arkstee und Merkus, 1764.. A copper engraved map on laid paper, uncoloured, from Volume 18 of Schwabe's Allgemeine Historie der Reisen (1748 - 1774). Image size is 35cm x 26.5cm. Text in German. Verso blank. In upper right corner: "No. 6.". In lower left: "Suppl. zum. VIII Bande No. 6". Yellow stain at left margin, some scattered foxing mostly to margins, very good condition. A plan of the fortifications at Jaffna, Sri Lanka.

London: British Admiralty, 1916 (Large Corrections to 21st Nov. 1930; Small corrections from 1931 to 1938 in mss.). A large engraved chart on heavy stock, uncolored, sheet size 53.5 x 26.5 inches. Originally published 1916, this is an edition of 1930. Original vertical folds, a very good copy. This is a working chart, with numerous amendments and additions in red pen, as well as cautionary text referring to submarine cables. At lower right: "Engraved 1916", and the chart number: 454. Small typed label on verso giving the chart number & folio details. Published under the Superintendence of Captain J.F. Parry. A very large and handsome chart, with a substantial map of Kingston.

Published 1885, Large Corrections to 1901, Small corrections to 1934 (printed) and 1936 (mss.). Original horizontal fold, a nice clean copy, some additions in red. A printed paste-over comprises some of the corrections to the inset map of Ishihama and Nobiru Anchorages; another smaller paste-over corrects the area in the lower left near Shiogama. In lower right: "Engraved by Davies & Company" and "Zc 1932". Chart number is 806. Small typed label on verso giving chart & folio info. Some engraved coastlines, and inset maps of Kesennuma Bays, Ofunato Harbour, Tu Shima Peninsula Anchorages, and Ishihama and Nobiru Anchorages.

A nice clean copy in a very good dust jacket, a chip from the lower panel, small chips and tears to edges, and internal repairs along edges and folds. Still not a bad looking copy. A curious novel, of a day which lasts 100 million years.

Many photographic illustrations in colour and b&w. Text by James Patten, Barbara Fischer, others. Uncommon. Jerry Pethick was born in London, Ontario, trained in the UK, lived on Hornby Island, BC.

NY: Scribners, 1888. Early, probably 2nd edition; first published in 1887. 306 pages, plus 8 pages of ads at rear. Paperbound issue, this copy rebound in the wrappers of Pratt's Circulating Library, Denver, Colo. Inner hinges glued, some pen numbers on frist leaves, some edge wear, about very good. The original covers have been removed, and replaced with the Pratt wrappers. Wright III: 2609.

Dublin: Printed for P. Byrne, etc., 1793. . Disbound. Old stitch holes & leather remnants at spine. 8vo. Some foxing, light chipping at edges, very good. This looks to be the first Dublin edition of the Third Part [Parts 1 & 2 were published in London in 1792]. A satirical expose' of British aristocracy; due to its identifiable portraits of some members of élite society, its publisher was fined £100 and imprisoned in Newgate Prison. Many editions exist.

NY & London: Neely, (1901). First edition. . Tan cloth, spine and front cover ruled and lettered in dark brown or black. Some dust soiling of cloth, chipping to spine ends, a bit of shelf wear; a very good copy, internally fresh. Smith: American Fiction 1901-1925: J-201. Tibbetts wrote an earlier novel (THE DEPARTMENT CLERK - 1899), and later translated Homer. Both novels are very scarce. This one also concerns Washington politics.

Amsterdam: Joannes Brouwer and Jacob van Meurs, 1660. First Dutch edition.. Two volumes, 4to., full armorial vellum. Title pages printed in red & black; extra fully-engraved title pages. Vellum splitting along the front hinge of Volume 1, some old stains to the first couple of leaves of Volume 1; in general a clean and very good copy, the velllum bindings a bit sprung as usual. This book, a chronology of world history up to 1660, was first published in German, issued in eight volumes between 1629 and 1634; the first folio edition appeared in 1642. This Dutch edition of 1660 contains Illustrated title pages, full-page plates, and many fine engravings within the text. Although the decorative title pages indicate that the illustrations are by Jacob van Meurs [Met Schloone Koopere Plaaten verciert door Jacob Van Meurs], they are clearly copied from those by Merian which appeared in the original German edition. Basileae: Lucovici Koning, 1631. Fifth edition.. 12mo. Full calf, fairly modern, unlettered. Modest edge wear, old stain to lower half of text block, a very good copy. Page 81/82 [D5] has suffered a marginal tear with the loss of a few words. Paginated in reverse to the western convention; title page at the rear. Text in Latin and Hebrew. An uncommon manual first published in 1602; there was also an edition from Koning in 1619.

A booklet of 20 pages about Harington (d.1612), who translated Ariosto, and who wrote cleverly about privies in the renaissance. Printed by Bruce & Carol Bradley.

NY, 1931 - 1933.. 8.5 x 11.5 inches. This is a bind-up of John Held works extracted from several periodicals. Held together at the spine with three brass brads. Some fraying along the spine, a bit of wear and discoloration to end leaves and corners, first leaf coming loose, very good generally, and for the most part internally very fresh. It is composed of 42 pieces. There are 33 "Civilization's Progress" extracted from Liberty Magazine, (Aug 8, 1931 - April 2, 1932; weekly except for March 5 and March 19, 1932). There are 5 "John Held Jr Sings The Old Love Songs" extracted from The Illustrated Love Magazine (1932: April, May, Aug, Nov, Dec). There are 3 "John Held Jr Retells The Old Love Stories" extracted from The Illustrated Love Magazine (1933: Jan, July, Aug). Finally there is a single "We Can Be Young Only Once" extracted from an unknown source, a small ink stamp dates it March 1932. Taunton, Mass., 1907. One sheet, folded to make a 4-page booklet. Inside are nice engravings of a Concord wagon, and a Piano Box Top Buggy. The back cover features an Express Wagon. John T. Sharkey, Carriates & Harness, Taunton, Mass. A little overall wear, some small holes, but clean and very good.

Yellow end papers. 128pp. Inner rear hinge cracking, light fraying to spine ends, and moderate shelf wear; a decent, very good copy. A short, comic SF tale of a newsboy's trip through the Earth to China, and a visit to the North Pole. Wright II: 536. Bleiler: SF: The Early Years, 424, referring to the book as "A minor classic of Victorian children's literature..." Published anonymously. An attributed edition was published by Page in 1903.

Spine wrinkled, light wear to edges, but a very nice copy of a fragile book. First edition under this title; originally published by Carleton in 1880 as: "College Tramps. A Narrative of the Adventures of a Party of Yale Students during a Summer Vacation in Europe, with Knapsack and Alpenstock, and incidents of a voyage to Rotterdam and return, taken in steerage." This re-titled edition is scarce.
