Issued without dustwrapper. African American artist who passed away in 2018. He was an accomplished abstract impressionist whose works are held by many major institutions and whose paintings are now being sold in the millions of dollars. This copy comes from the library of art critic Dore Ashton. Whitten briefly INSCRIBED this copy to her on the title page. A rare signature to be sure.
