Photograph. 15 black and white photographs. Approx' 5 x 4" or slightly larger. The photographs capture the atmosphere and personalities of KSL. One photograph depicts the grand broadcasting headquarters, across from Deseret News, with prominent signage which towers over the valley. Other photos reveal the vintage equipment of the times, the broadcasters themselves, and the types of activities that would take place within the station. Another shows a poster for Edward Murrow's show. (a prominent award is named after Edward R. Murrow, a critic of McCarthyism). Periodic gluestaining to the reverse of the photographs. A collection of photographs which reflect the serious professionalism and collegiality present in the KSL studios.

Hardcover. 163pp. Duodecimo [19 cm] Ivory white cloth spine with blue paper covered boards, and black ink stamped titles on the spine and front cover. Very good. There is a small abraded patch in the paper of the rear board. The cloth on the spine is a bit age-toned, and the top edge of the text block is very slightly soiled. The underlying boards are just barely peeking through at the bottom corners of the covers. Lafcadio Hearn is most famous for his books about Japan, particularly his collections of Japanese legends and ghost stories.

The top edge of the text block has the publisher's red stain. With the original black and white box with silver and black printed paper title labels. The book is in very good condition. There is a previous owner's bookplate on the front pastedown. There is a contemporary gift inscription on the front free endsheet, and there is a bookseller's small label on the rear pastedown. The box is in very good condition. The paper has been rubbed away in numerous areas, and the underlying boards are exposed. There are a couple of 3/4" splits in the corner edges of the box. Illustrated by Willy Pogany. From the introduction- "Burton's 'Kasidah' is the only poetical work of its kind in the English language. It is not a creative translation like the 'Rubaiyat of Omar Khayam' by Fitzgerald, but a direct creation.
