Garrison Morton (5883) Graefe established an eye clinic at Halle that became a world-renowned institution, and that Graefe introduced antisepsis into ophthalmology. Answers com notes the following about Robert: "Robert, Ludwig (Berlin, 1778-1832, Baden-Baden), a member of a well-to-do Jewish family and a brother of Rahel Varnhagen von Ense, wrote plays, including the tragedy Die Macht der Verhältnisse (1819) which deals with the position of Jews in society." which we assume to be the author. The instruction booklet ONLY (there would have been an accompanying map which is not present here). A direction and rules book for this rare geographical game. Contains instructions and 141 numbered paragraphs for various geographical locations with in depth information about each location. Players start at #1 PHILADELPHIA and finish at #141 BUENOS AYRES. Each entry with from a few sentences to several pages of description about the numbered location. Mainz: C.G. Kunze, 1885. Boards. Very Good. viii, 120 pages plus frontis. 16 x 22 cm. Cloth spine with purple marbled boards. Foxing and browning throughout. Page 1 has small patch of paper in the middle of the page crinkled but still attached, no loss of text or meaning. Binding solid with mild wear, front hinge paper starting. Minor wear to binding and corners. Boards. Frontispiece "Mutterliebe" is an engraving drawn and engraved by J.B. Scholl. In the engraving is "I.B.Scholl MDCCCLIX" (ie J B Scholl 1859), probably when Scholl did the image. This work went through a number of editions, but the only edition noted in OCLC in Mainz by C. G. Kunze is the second edition in 1873 with 114 pages. The current edition is probably later, with more pages although one German bookseller dates it to 1854. A collection of 104 children's song lyrics without musical notation. Text in German script. Dated before 1885 based on Kunze's successor Jacoby.

From head-light to buffercasting, from spark-arrester to air-brake coupling, she shone resplendent." - the start of the description of the great express engine No. 59. At least one story is set in Salmon Falls, in New England. Charming, fun read for the technologically minded, and with the illustration of a cupid on a telegraph on the cover, who can go wrong?
