First is the leather bound, raised band Maximilian facsimile prayer book containing psalms, prayer, hymns, and gospels all in Latin. The full leather binding is tooled and includes metal ornamentation on the front and back covers as well as a metal clasp to hold the covers closed. Included in many of the pages of the manuscript are illustrations made by Durer and others important artists of the time as borders for the text. This prayer book is in Fine condition, and is surrounded by a wooden case in very good condition shaped like a book with metal locking mechanism and lined with dark red wool cloth (which surrounds the prayer book). Also in this case is a second volume in full soft leather which serves as a commentary.
