There were at least five variations of this publication, with the differences being in the Biography volume. Four of the variations are found with Volume III being only a single volume, and one with Volume III being divided into two parts (though the latter is by far the more common and comprehensive). Each variation, however, does contain several unique entries that will be found in none of the other variations. This particular set appears dedicated to the north-central counties of Kansas with entries from Smith, Jewell, Morton, and other counties that will not be seen in any other variation of this title, including the larger three volume in four variation. Although this variation appears to be the most comprehensive of all variations examined, it does not include all of the names seen in the other volumes. All four volumes are bound with black leather over spines and corners, and black cloth over boards. Light wear at a couple of spine ends and corners. Inked name on the blank recto of the frontispiece of Volume I, and also on the blank fly leaves of Volumes II and III. All four volumes remains tight and otherwise very clean. . First Edition. Kansas City, MO: The Kansas City Photo Supply Co.. Soft cover. Fair/No Dust Jacket. No date, though circa 1920s. 15 photographic plates tipped onto 12 leaves and string tied into covers. Covers are rubbed and worn, and a 16th photographic image of the Entrance to Swope Park on the top cover is significantly impaired. A few of the pages are disbound and most of the leaves show wear on edges. Nine of the photographs are 6 x 8 inches, and the others are 3.5 x 6 inches. Two show closed tears. Photos are generally in very good condition.
