Paris: Librairie Hachette et Cie., 1888. [Backstage Production] Third edition. Octavo (19 x 13cm), pp.[10] 294 [2]. All text in French. Illustrated by the author with 60 wood engravings of theatrical machinery. Contemporary brown half morocco, with raised bands, gilt titles and decoration to spine, and papier tourniquet over boards. Top edge gilt, with matching papier tourniquet endpapers. Pencil ownership to front flyleaf, otherwise internally clean with some light general toning. Moderate general wear to binding, with heavy bumping to corners. Very good. Absolutely fascinating, if you happen to like engravings of backstage trapdoor setups and the inner workings of mechanical set effects. Who doesn't? Seriously, anyone who doesn't needs to take a long hard look at their interests. An absolutely fantastic little book.
