New York, New York: American Child Health Association, 1920. Some light toning, else fine.. A small lithographed card (6" by 4") published by the American Child Health Association (ACHA) advocating for giving children access to school lunches. The card depicts a loving female teacher presenting a piping hot meal to three children, underneath which is a rhyme: "L is for Luncheon served hot in the School; We wish all the Teachers could follow this Rule." The ACHA was formed in 1923 by Herbert Hoover by merging the American Child Hygiene Association and the Child Health Organization, and grew out of efforts to stop rising infant mortality rates.

France: Unknown, 1890. Lacking Original Box. No. 74350. An embossed die-cut litho on heavy card paper doll or pretend play set. It includes two (2) 8" dolls Sleeping Beauty and Prince Charming. They are shown in scenes as adolescents and young adults. The adolescent scene he sleeps adjacent she on a fainting couch. They each have three (3) full costumes with additional hats and collars. Also includes back drops, spinning wheel and other accessories. Appears complete.

Detroit: Calvert Lith Co, [19. Edge wear.. Aesthetically pleasing serene scene of a women creating a floral arrangement in a garden with the calm sea as a background. Title reads "Lotus". The Haserot Company, Cleveland, Ohio. The label is designed to be placed on the side of a fruit basket. It measures 10.5 in length and is 13.5 at the top and 12 inches at the base. Reverse is blank.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: University of Pennsylvania, 1890. Near fine. Toned, a couple spots.. A prospectus promoting a new laboratory of marine biology to be affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania, located at Sea Isle City, New Jersey. The aims of the new laboratory were to furnish free facilities to marine biologists, as well as to furnish an aquarium for researchers and the general public. It was completed in 1891. Printed bifolium (8.5" by 5.5") signed on final page in contemporary ink by the Dean, Dr. Horace Jayne (1859-1913), a noted zoologist and professor. Established 1892.

Boston, Massachusetts: William J. Reynolds, 1845. Fair to good. Minor dust soiling and staining, wrappers worn with some chipping and short tears. Spine chipped and worn.. Second part of a six-part series published for "Uncle John's Library", with in-text illustrations and a hand-colored frontispiece. Penned by children's writer Sarah Trimmer (1741-1810), this part of "Ladder to Learning" contains "Fables consisting of words not exceeding three syllables" (title-page) including such titles as "The Lying Boy" and "The Bull and the Goat". Each includes a moral at the end. 12mo (5.25" by 4.25"), 122 pp. with in-text illustrations and hand-colored frontispiece. Sewn in original illustrated orange wrappers.

An eight (8) wooden decorated blade Victorian hand fan with embossed die-cut bouquets of forget-me-nots at top, each with an image of a German or Austrian literary figure c 1880s. They include Henrik Ibsen, Fritz Reuter, Grillparzer, Schopenhauer, Ruckert, Korner, Herder, Klopstock and Ludwig Uhland. Each blade is 8" in length. Reverse is bouquets without the illustrations. Some wear.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Ladies' United Aid Society of Philadelphia, 1868. Very good to near-fine. Minor toning, vertical crease.. Printed circular soliciting contributions to the Ladies' United Aid Society of Philadelphia to help support their new "Home for the aged and infirm". Includes a list of trustees and managers, and a brief description of the lot purchased for the home on the corner of Thirteenth street and LeHigh Avenue. Also mentions an upcoming fair being organized to further raise funds. Printed bifolium with additional printed single sheet (both 8" by 5"). The Ladies' United Aid Society of Philadelphia was instrumental during the Civil War in caring for the wounded, and became one of the most recognizable Ladies' Aid Societies in the country. It kept records of honorably discharged soldiers, and recognized the need for ongoing support of soldiers who may have been left without a means of making a living because of their injuries from the war.

New York: George H. Doran Co, 1913. 89 pp. Green and blue illustrated boards, hard cover, illustrated end pages, frontispiece, author's other books advertisement, first page of each chapter decorated by Griselda M. McClure, paper glued to half title page states that royalties of the book will go to the New York Association of the Blind. A sweet story of a blind boy and his "mammy" who is helped by the lady in the lighthouse. 8 1/2" x 6 1/2" binding loose, spine torn, slight staining.

1920. A hard cover folio with a watercolor of an elegant lady holding a feather fan on the front cover. The insert is a Ladies' Laundry List booklet. It includes approximately 75 unused pages of items to be laundered. The left side is the laundry list to be retained by "The Lady" and the right side list to go with the laundry. The form includes the date number of items to be laundered and the cost of laundry. In it's original blank box. Measures 4 1/2" x 5 3/4" Bend, front cover insert booklet.

Photo-illustrated brochure for The Lake Parlin House, a resort on the shores of Lake Parlin, Maine. Markets itself to American families as "A Modern Hotel in the Heart of Maine's Wild Woods", with both modern amenities and rustic charm. Fishing, hunting, camping, and canoeing are offered, along with day trips to local sites. Note the photo of two pet baby black bears enjoying blueberries. Includes rates for room, board, and guides. Single vol. (4" by 9.5"), pp. [16], photo-illustrated, stapled in original wrappers depicting the resort on the front.

Lake Pleasant, Montague, Massachusetts: Lake Pleasant, 1914. Fine. Light toning, wrappers rubbed.. Photo-illustrated magazine and program for Lake Pleasant, a Spiritualist community founded west of Boston in 1870. At its height, approximately 3,000 spiritualists would gather for a summer series of lectures, seances, concerts and club meetings, including a large swath of programming specifically aimed at women spiritualists. Port Henry, New York: Lake Shore Cottages, 1940. Good. Some short tears, chips, wear to extremities/folds. One larger (2-inch) closed tear.. Printed vacation brochure advertising the Lake Shore Cottages, "A Summer Paradise" located on the shore of Lake Champlain near Port Henry, New York. Major selling points appear to be outdoor recreation, fresh milk supplied from a local dairy farm, "Sanitary Plumbing", refrigerators, and "No Discomfort from Mosquitos or Flies". This copy has been annotated in ink with corrections to pricing. Seven different bungalows are advertised with their capacity, price, and description of amenities. Measures approx. 11" by 8.5" unfolded, 5.5" by 4.25" folded.

Clinton, Massachusetts: Lancaster Mills, 1890. Very good to near-fine. Minor toning, offsetting from fabric sample; some sunning or toning to second leaf verso. Minor rubbing to spine, one or two spots.. An attractive and well-preserved sample of gingham fabric, contained within a lithographed card bifolium with image of a fashionable young lady on the front, and an aerial view of the Lancaster Mills factory on the back. Opposite the fabric sample is a description of the manufacturer: "The Lancaster Mills, Clinton, Massachusetts, are the oldest and best equipped Gingham Mills in the country. For HALF A CENTURY they have manufactured the well known Lancaster Gingham in Staples, Fancies, Normandies, and Zephyrs, noted for perfection and durability of fabric, FAST COLORS and novel designs..." Washington DC: E. R. Marden, 1911. A 23 1/2" x 22" color land development plat for Villa Park Heights Washington DC. This was a proposed development between Eastern Avenue on the north and Bunker Road on the south, It also included McKinley Circle. The narrative describes how it is some of the only vacant land available in the District of Columbia and would provide for property improvement and beautification paid for by the US Government and no assessments for street paving. It elaborates on beautiful squares and circles and the convenience of the location. Plat printed in yellow and green. The reverse is an inventory of the properties including the lot number, square footage, price per square foot and total cost of the land. Terms: 10% discount for cash, $10 down and $10 per month.
