In all, this is an excellent example of this modern first edition by le Carré. It is a captivating espionage novel that seamlessly blends the past and present. It focusses on Peter Guillam, a former British Intelligence officer, who is drawn out of his retirement when a legal case reopens the old wounds of his Cold War days. As he reflects back to his role in Operation Windfall, the reader is whisked back to "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold".

It is tightly bound in the original publisher's navy boards with gold gilt detailing to front and title to the spine. Inside, the pages are clean and bright and the book appears practically unread and in excellent condition. The book is signed by the author on the title page. The book is housed in a Fine dust jacket, which other than some slight bumping to the edges and a hint of rubbing in places, is in excellent clean smart condition. Bound in original publishers binding with gilt detailing and title to the spine. The binding is clean and tightly bound, with just a little shelf wear to the edges and a touch of rubbing to the rear. There is some fading to the spine, but it otherwise remains sharp and in very smart condition.
Inside, the pages are clean and bright with just a little toning and the occasional age spot. The book appears barely read and in beautiful condition internally. There is a neat ownership inscription to the ffep. It is beautifully illustrated by George Cruikshank, with 37 black and white illustrations throughout the book.
In all, this is a lovely example of this classic by Defoe. It is very collectible and in excellent condition. It would look very smart on any shelf, or in any collection. This novel tells the tale of Robinson Crusoe, written as the character's autobiography. Crusoe was… Read More

Published by William Heinemann Ltd, London; 1965. 8vo. 246pp. First edition, first impression. Condition: Near Fine/Near Fine.Bound in it's original black cloth binding with silver title to the spine, this book is in excellent condition, with just a hint of bumping to the base of the spine, although this really is negligible, and two small, faint marks to the rear. Inside, the book is in equally smart condition, clean and bright, with no marks or damage to speak of apart from a little spotting to the page rims. It is in remarkable condition for a book of this age.The book is housed in it's original dust jacket, which is bright and clean, but clipped. There is a touch of bumping to the edges and a small mark to the bottom of the front flap. There is also some fading to the spine. However, apart from these minor points, the jacket is in very smart condition, which is increasingly harder to find with this title, and it compliments the book beautifully.Overall, this is a very collectible example of this… Read More
