"Official Organ of the League of American Wheelmen" -- front wrapper. Includes: an article about the proposal by the California Cycling Co. to build a 9-mile elevated cycleway between Pasadena and Los Angeles for the use of bicycles and motor carriages (the Pasadena portion opened in 1900 and was in use for several years); and articles about the Stanley Steamer, and the New York Autotruck co., which made horseless trucks. Very scarce. In Good Condition: wrapper is lightly soiled and starting to separate along spine; several pages stained; loss at lower corner of final leaf and back wrapper; pages are clean and solid.

Front wrapper illustration is a photograph by George Lohr of a paper sculpture by Ralph Patterson. Printed in black and green. Contains descriptions of the 44 items in the exhibition. Introduction by Harry Richards, who did the typography. With handwritten notes by Douglas on the title page "Designed & printed by LD's Washington friends," and indicating that the exhibition ran from Dec. 1949 to March 1950. Paris: Presso Baudry, Libreria Europea, 1836. Hardcover. Very Good -. 4 volumes: frontispiece portrait of the author in vol. 1; 21 cm. Half black morocco with marbled paper over boards. Five spine compartments between raised bands with "Ariosto" in the second compartment and the volume number in the fourth. All page edges speckled red. Marbled endpapers matching that on the boards. Frontispiece engraving is signed: "Geoffroy sc." The fourth volume includes additional short poems by the author. Text is entirely in Italian. In Very Good- Condition: bindings archivally repaired; covers are lightly rubbed, with some loss of leather at spine ends; the frontispiece engraving has left a shadow on the title page of vol. 1; frontispiece and facing title page, as well as parts of vol. 3 also lightly foxed; otherwise pages are clean and tight.
