A monograph, with comparisons fomo the Bishops Bible and the manuscript annotations of 1602, with an original leaf from the great "She" Bible of 1611. Trace of foxing along the top edge, residue from a paper clip n the front free endpaper else a fine copy. The dustwrapper is not price-clipped and is lightly worn at the edges and folds else is in near fine condition. Errata slip laid-in and another tipped in. Inscribed by Firestone to Dolores Hope. Also laid in are four original 5 by 7 inch black and white photographs: Two show Bob Hope and the author, Harvey Firestone. Another sows Hope, Firestone, Joan Crawford and Mrs. Charles F. Willis, Jr. The fourth photograph shows Hope and President Lyndon Johnson. All photographs are in fine condition and seem to have been taken at a USO function. Accompanied by a letter from the Bob and Dolores Hope Charitable Foundation certifying that this copy came from the Hope library.

The dustwrapper is now price-clipped; it has a closed marginal tear and crease along the bottom, is lightly rubbed and with a few small stains, but still in very good condition. With the turmoil of 18th century China as a background, this is the life of Frederick Townsend Ward, an American adventurer who gave his life for China and became the first foreigner raised from being a mortal to one of the Gods of War, following an elaborate Confucian ritual. .

Spines in six compartments with raised bands, gilt; brown leather lettering pieces, gilt. Top edges gilt. Spine compartments tooled in an eagle, bee and an 'N' surrounded by a wreath. Blue calf has aged to a pleasant shade of tan on the spines, and also on the boards, but in places a bit unevenly. But for the the sunning, and traces of wear at the corners, a fine set.
