Marie de Rohan (d.1679) became the Duchesse de Chevreuse, having formerly been Madamoiselle de Montblazon, and later the Duchesse de Luynes. The Duchesse was involved at the French Court, and allegedly involved in many intrigues and plots for or against the other nations of Europe. References to Chevreuse appear in Alexander Dumas, a tragic opera by Donizetti, and in an episode of Doctor Who. This is the first of multiple biographies which she inspired.
