Ex libiris Princesse Antoine Radziwill (with loss at lower right corner), faced by the bookplate of Prince Stanislaw Radziwill (aide-de-camp to the Commander-in-chief of the Polish Forces under Jozef Pilsudski in German-occupied Poland. Marie de Rohan (d.1679) became the Duchesse de Chevreuse, having formerly been Madamoiselle de Montblazon, and later the Duchesse de Luynes. The Duchesse was involved at the French Court, and allegedly involved in many intrigues and plots for or against the other nations of Europe. References to Chevreuse appear in Alexander Dumas, a tragic opera by Donizetti, and in an episode of Doctor Who. This is the first of multiple biographies which she inspired.
