Sea Story of Massachusetts by George Caspar Homans and Samuel Eliot Morison. Blue hardcover with white cloth spine. 32 pages. Some smudging on the front cover and on the spine. Interior is clean and lightly toned. Spine very good and tight. Printed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Illustrated. "In commemoration of the enterprise of the seamen of the Massachusetts Bay Colony and in recognition of the maritime accomplishments of their descendants." Number 406 and signed by Mayor Curley, along with City of Boston 147th Municipal Observance of Independence Day, Friday July 4, 1930, plus 4 unused invitation cards for the 2 PM Independence day ceremony to be held at Faneuil Hall. Address by Jules Henry along with Herbert Parker and James M. Curley, Mayor will preside.

Description:
Lawrence Langner (May 30, 1890 – 1962) was a playwright, author, and producer who also pursued a career as a patent attorney. Born near Swansea, South Wales and working most of his life in the United States, he started his career as one of the founders of the Washington Square Players troupe in 1914. In 1919 he founded the Theatre Guild, where he supervised over 200 productions. He was also founder and Chairman of the American Shakespeare Festival, and with his wife, Armina Marshall, he created and operated the Westport Country Playhouse. Besides theatre, Lawrence Langner wrote several books, including an autobiography, titled The Magic Curtain. He was awarded the 1958 Tony Award for best play production (together with his wife and partners, Theresa Helburn and Dore Schary) for Sunrise at Campobello. No copies of this small but nicely bound book are found for sale. OCLC only shows five libraries worldwide having copies of this book. Signed by the Author, Pierre Bourgeois to Milton Lord, who became the Boston Public Library head. written in French and in near perfect as printed and bound condition. Some slight toning and sunnint along the cloth spine on the front board with some minor bumps. Otherwise, interior is clean, bright and in excellent condition.
