Boldly printed title "MURDER!" as if a newspaper headline, with the subtitle and 20 line poem in 5 stanzas printed beneath. Dated April 19 (date of Lincoln's funeral in Washington), "Anno Domini 1865". OCLC locates but two examples.

Bound in black cloth over flexible boards, with no exterior titles. A few faint spots to lower board. Binding sound.. A rare manual issued by Prohibition District No. 4, Pittsburgh as a pocket guide to help its Revenue and Prohibition agents build strong cases as they enforced the Volstead Act in the field. The contents are distilled (ha) from Treasury Department Regulations 12 and 60, and aimed at avoiding procedural mistakes during investigations, sting operations, and arrests. Think Eliot Ness making sure his "i"s are dotted and "t"s are crossed so the bootleggers don't walk on a technicality.

Kemp's classic work on selecting, inspecting, and building a yacht along with detailed instruction on seamanship and sailing in open yachts, steam yachts, ice boats, and much more. This edition was published in two volumes: the first being the main text volume illustrated with engravings and the second being a volume of 124 folding plates. The present book is the first volume only. See TOY #2152; MORRIS & HOWLAND p. 76. Bound in royal blue cloth over boards with black endpapers, spine titled in gilt. Rubs to edges of boards, fraying of .25" along head and heel of spine, some evidence of old dampstaining at top 1.5" of lower board. Hinges sound.

Red textured paper over boards with gilt stamped spine and upper board lettering. Minor bump to lower fore corner of lower board. Jacket has overall yellowing, a .5" x .125" hole near top edge of front panel, a 1" closed tear at lower edge of front panel near joint fold, rubs and wrinkles at extremities, and some surface abrasions. Still a presentable jacket, and one which has preserved the book itself in very nice condition. Contains an index to the etchings.. Jacket in Mylar protector.

Black and white frontispiece and photographic plates. George Burchett was kicked out of school at age 12 for tattooing his classmates. After a stint in the Royal Navy--from which he absconded--he became a full-time tattoo artist in 1900.<br /> <br /> He served a broad clientele, including the wealth upper class and European royalty. Near fine overall.. John R. Kenly had just been admitted to the bar in Baltimore when the War with Mexico broke out. He raised a company of volunteers and led them into battle as a captain in the Baltimore-Washington Battalion. This is his excellent first-hand account of these experiences. <br /> <br /> Kenly would later serve in the Union army during the Civil War as a colonel in the 1st Regiment Maryland Volunteer Infantry.

Many names are mentioned, making it an interesting genealogical reference. Includes a list of pastors, their time at the church, their annual salary, etc. Chapters on the Waverly Spelling Club and the Boy Scout Troop at Waverly. SIGNED by Anna Cole at top edge of front free endpaper. Uncommon Baltimore title. Bound in maroon cloth over boards with upper board titled in gilt. Scarce first edition of David Brainerd's famous account of missionary work among the Native Americans of Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. <br /> <br /> Jonathan Dickinson is the person who encouraged Brainerd to become a Presbyterian missionary to the Native Americans. His support and direction came from the Society in Scotland for Propagating Christian Knowledge, and he began his missionary work in late 1742.<br /> <br /> This copy has six leaves supplied in facsimile, including half title, and title page. A sentimental Union Civil War song sheet with three verses and a chorus. .<br /> <br /> The hand-colored headpiece is a view of the City of Richmond from across the James River, with the Confederate Capitol prominently in the center (Magnus 61, per Wolf). <br /> <br /> Charles Magnus was a German immigrant printing entrepreneur who produced city views as well as views of camps and hospitals during the Civil War. This pictorial map was created to publicize the recently opened Mount Hope Bridge connecting Aquidneck Island and Newport with mainland Rhode Island. Researched by John W. Haley and designed by H. W. Hetherington, it emphasizes the maritime history and quaint villages of Rhode Island and eastern Massachusetts. <br /> <br /> Reverse side contains information about the Mount Hope Bridge, brief tourist information, and three additional maps of the region. The largest of the maps on reverse occupies half the sheet and is a pictorial map of "Newport's Famous Ten Mile Drive Along the Ocean Front Showing the locations of the beautiful Summer residences of many prominent people." <br /> <br /> Ref. There is one clean 3/4" tear along the edge of one of these folds, otherwise nearly perfect.. Typeset and printed draft of a substitute bill which was adopted by the Maryland General Assembly on March 8, 1832.
