Description:
Boston: Brill Academic Publishers, 2002. Reprint. . Soft cover. Very Good. Reprint. Paperback. 23 × 15cm, xxiii + 517pp. Do we really know who wrote the New Testament documents? Do we really know when they were written? Scholars have long debated these fundamental questions. This volume identifies and investigates literary traditions and their implications for the authorship and dating of the Gospels and the letters of the New Testament. Departing from past scholarship, E. Providing a critique of the current critical orthodoxy with respect to the dating of New Testament documents, Ellis weighs the patristic traditions more heavily and more critically than has been done in the past. Ellis's new reconstruction of the… Read More

Description:
London: B T Batsford, 1992. 1st Edition . Hardback. Very Good/Good. First edition, first printing. Hardback in dustwrapper. 24 × 16cm, 223pp. This book examines ufology and belief in extra-terrestrials as a cultural phenomenon. The author examines how 19th-century occultism, particularly theosophy, has been revitalized under the guise of scientific speculation and captured the popular imagination. Unexplained or mysterious phenomenon such as UFOs, alien visitors, crop circles and the evidence for the astronaut gods theory are habitually interpreted by those who claim to have witnessed them in scientific terms, a fact that the author believes can be explained partly by tensions and anxieties within society caused by political, social and technological change. Condition: The book is in very good condition with a small area of foxing to the pages' fore-edge. The dustwrapper is a little crinkled at the head of the spine but has not been price-clipped.

Hardback in dustwrapper. 24 × 15.5cm, 634pp. Signed and dedicated by Oliver Soden to the title page. The voice, the dressing-gown, the cigarette in its holder, remain unmistakable. There is rarely a week when one of Private Lives, Hay Fever, and Blithe Spirit is not in production somewhere in the world. Phrases from Noël Coward's songs - "Mad About The Boy", "Mad Dogs and Englishman" - are forever lodged in the public consciousness. He was at one point the most highly paid author in the world. Yet some of his most striking and daring writing remains unfamiliar. As T.S. Eliot said, in 1954, "there are things you can learn from Noël Coward that you won't learn from Shakespeare". Coward wrote some fifty plays and nine musicals, as well as revues, screenplays, short stories, poetry, and a novel. He was both composer and… Read More
