Internally, decorated end-pages clean but slightly age-toned, with Author's inscription to 2nd free end-page but otherwise free of previous owners marks or signatures. Paper is slightly age-toned throughout with a light bit of foxing to 1st and last few pages. The binding is tight and hinges intact.

The wrappers are dust stained, sunfaded, and waterstained, but are intact with only small tears at edges. The top page edges are heavily dust spotted. Inside, the first 1000 or so pages are in excellent condition. They are clean and unmarked, with no foxing. The final 100 pages have some dampstaining and moisture rippling. This is a first edition copy of Novak's critical and controversial "half a century of clericalism in Croatia" which landed him in hot water with the Vatican. (cfm)
