Covers starting to come away from the spine towards the head. Toning and light staining to spine, with a few minor marks and light wear to covers. Light spotting and toning to edges; internally clean. Very good. This acclaimed novel follows Aldo Cassidy (the naive and sentimental lover), a successful, judicious man, wrenched away from the ordered certainties of his life by a sudden encounter with Shamus, a wild, carousing artist and Helen, his nakedly alluring wife. Cassidy, plunged into a whirlpool of recklessness and spontaneity, becomes a man bewildered and agonised as he is torn between two poles of a nature more complex than he had ever imagined.

The semi-autobiographical story of a man's post-marital existential crisis. This, Le Carré's sixth novel, was published the same year as his divorce.

Condition A- (slight handling), dimensions approx. 13x 10 inches, mounted ready for framing. This card issued for the 1960 release. Fine example. The Naked Jungle is a 1954 film directed by Byron Haskin, and starring Charlton Heston and Eleanor Parker. Telling the story of an attack of army ants on a Peruvian cocoa plantation, it was based on the short story "Leiningen Versus the Ants" by Carl Stephenson. Note on format; Lobby cards are small posters on card stock (usually 11"x14" in a horizontal format) generally produced in sets of eight, intended for display in a cinema's foyer or lobby, usually consisting title and credits bordering one of the major scenes from the movie.

Illustrated in black and white to front cover, concerning the film 'Naked Under Leather' starring Marianne Faithfull and Alain Delon. Also with the Herald sample mentioned in the brochure. A single leaf of paper, folded once. One central rough horizontal fold to brochure, and some light handling. Near fine. A rare promotional brochure sent to box office managers in the USA, encouraging them to invest in extra advertising material and merchandise for this edited version of 'The Girl on a Motorcycle,' which was the first film ever to achieve an X-rating in the US, and popularised the full-body leather motorcycling suit.

Restoration also to margins of many leaves, especially lower edge. Map shows extensive repairs. Quite a well-thumbed copy with some marks and spotting throughout. Essentially clean and complete.
