Text in German, with 16 photographs. This is travel book by French writer Paul Morand, who shares his impressions of New York City and American culture after four visits in the late 1920s. The first edition was in French and published in Paris, that same year it was translated into English and into this German edition, with its distinctive cover art by Ludwig Goldscheider, with skyscrapers, the U.S. flag and the cityscape that was made into a limited edition poster by Boss Fine Arts. No DJ but boards in protective plastic cover.

It is not a book club edition -- no dot on bottom righthand side of back board and no mention on dust jacket. It has $3.00 on dust jacket, not clipped, and dust jacket in good shape with a few chips and spine darkening. Blue dust jacket like American stated first edition with tan cloth boards.

241 pages. William Allen Butler (1825-1902) was a lawyer in New York (and one-time president of the American Bar Association) who wrote poetic satires. He published his most famous poem, Nothing to Wear, anonymously in 1857 in Harper's Weekly but stepped forward to claim his work after someone else tried to claim credit for it. The book is inscribed and signed by William Allen Butler to E. Francis Hyde, Esq. a legal colleague and dated January 1903. Book includes an engraved portrait of Butler opposite title page, with tissue intact.
