London: R. Ackermann, 1815. [4], 400pp, [10]. Rebound in full morocco by Zaehnsdorf, raised bands, spine in six panels, title in gilt to second panel, remaining panels filled with small flower heads, roundels and pointille, covers with an inner double fillet panel with elaborate corner pieces, an outer double fillet panel and an elaborate rolled frame of flowery stems and pointille, gilt roll to edges, gilt to inner edges, t.e.g. and marbled endpapers. Outer joints rubbed with some minor splitting, but holding, rubbed to extremities. Internally text is browned throughout, a few instances of small tears and chips to edges. Plates are tissue-guarded, these with off-setting, plates generally clean, though smaller than the text leaves. Lacking the preface leaves (pages 3-4), 'list of plates' leaf bound in at rear. Slightly later half calf and marbled paper over boards, smooth back divided into six panels by gilt rolls, lacking title label to second panel, remaining panels with indistinct fleuron tool in gilt. Heavily rubbed to extremities, upper joint split but holding, marbled paper covering boards is chipped to edges with some loss. Internally the text is browned and occasionally foxed throughout, plates are brighter and cleaner, though plate twenty-three has a damp stain just catching the vignette. Long inscription in pencil to second front free endpaper. With additional engraved title page by William Henry Pyne after Nattes which has been bound after the letterpress title, and forty-five plates (numbered 1-44 with two plate 23's). Slightly later half calf and marbled paper over boards, smooth back, divided into seven panels by gilt rules, title label to second panel. Outer joints slightly split and repaired with coloured Japanese tissue, inner joints also strengthened with Japanese tissue, slightly rubbed to extremities. Internally some light browning and occasional foxing throughout, map and several plates with off-setting, couple of small nicks to page edges, small tear to map. Complete with double-page map and thirty, (actually thirty-one, with two copies of plate 23), full-page uncoloured engravings, twenty-two of which are botanical, by G. D. Later (early seventeenth century) morocco, raised bands, spine in seven panels, title label to second panel, remaining panels with repeated fleur-de-lis tools, covers with rolled border, repeated fleur-de-lis tools and a central coat of arms of the College de Grassin [Olivier 1973].
