Published in a numbered, limited edition version of 50 copies that were bound in brown leatherette with dark brown spine, no jacket as issued, housed in similar slipcase with title and buffalo skull embossed on front. This is one of 5, un-numbered Artist's Proof copies with NO laid-in, original art by illustrator Ernest Franklin. Book differs from the numbered versions by having a color, glossy piece of Franklin art as a pastedown on the front board. Book is Fine and slipcase is Very Good with touch of shelf wear and a half inch bump to top front edge that has torn the leatherette covering, though it is minor. In Fine condition with Neil Gaiman's signature across the title page in black ink. Neil Gaiman's accolades are too many to list and include the Hugo, Nebula, Bram Stoker and Locus Awards, and the Newbery and Carnegie Medals. Among his published works are The Graveyard Book, American Gods, Coraline, Stardust, Neverwhere, Good Omens and the Ocean at the End of the Lane, as well as the renowned series The Sandman for DC Comics. Delacorte Press, 1975. First Edition. Cloth & Boards. Near Fine/Near Fine. A nice solid copy of Tim O'Brien's scarce second novel, signed "Peace, Tim O'Brien" on the title page. In black & lavender cloth & boards, the book is very clean and bright on the interior. But as is common with this low quality publication, there are minor flaws including areas of light fading to the endpapers, small white rubs on the black cloth and spots of soil on the page edges. The dustjacket is complete with the original price ($8.95) but the bottom of the front panel is wrinkled with light loss. But overall a better than usual copy and a special signature. Protected by an archival plastic cover. Mr. O'Brien won the National Book Award for "Going After Cacciato" and was a finalist for "The Things They Carried" for the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award.

Publisher's decorative label pasted to front board in fine condition and displays a bright and delightful scene filled with busy city life. Touch of rubbing to grey cloth covering the boards. Red leather label affixed to spine is still bright and clean, intact with no fading to the gilt lettering Slipcover is clean with wear and some chips to corners and edges. Splitting along the front edge and a small wrinkle to lower left corner but bright and clean.

This one is special because it is inscribed on the half-title page: "Joan Taylor's Christmas book from her mother with great love 1933." Joan Taylor was the daughter of American composer Deems Taylor, one of the best-known musical figures of the 20th century and best known as the host/narrator of Disney's classic film, "Fantasia." With dark red cloth with gold titling and a gold imprint of Christopher Robin on the front cover, the book is in fine condition but for darkening on the spine and wear at the very edges. With gold gilt top edge and pink endpapers, the book is very square and solid and beautiful. It is protected by the original dustjacket that shows soiling and darkening and with two pieces (less than3/4" deep) missing from the ends of the spine. Overall a very special book.
