Stunning collection of 12 beautifully printed portraits by Nadar that are printed on 12 individual sheets that measure 15 3/4" x 11 3/4". Each photograph has a tissue overlay and the portraits include Gustave Dore, Daumier, Delacroix, Baudelaire, Sarah Bernhardt and others. Includes separate 4pg. insert with a short intro. + thumbnails of photos with titles. The sheets are loosly laid in a black paper portfolio with a portrait of Sarah Bernhardt affixed to the front cover. The folder is set in a large white slipcase and is in the original publisher's cardboard shipping box. Fine.

New York: Rinehart and Company, 1948. Later Printing . Cloth with Dustjacket. SIGNED BY NORMAN MAILER. IN ADDITION THERE IS A SMALL WHITE INDEX CARD WHICH MAILER HAS WRITTEN "NOBODY COULD SLEEP. CHEERS NORMAN MAILER. AND AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CARD HE HAS WRITTEN FIRST SENTENCE OF THE NAKED AND THE DEAD. Mailer's first novel, an epic work about World War II. This is a later printing, as it is lacking the Rinehart colophon on the copyright page. The dustjacket is also a later printing and includes critical blurbs on the flaps and includes the photo of a very young Mailer on the back panel. The dustjacket has a small bit chipping and is priced clipped. There is also a faint soft corner crease to the front endsheet which is lightly mirrored to a few of the first pages and the corner crease is also on the back endsheet and is mirrored to a few of last pages, which makes me think that this happend in the binding. A notoriously fragile book in vg+ condition. Vg+/vg+

Classic book of photographs by the night crawling photojournalist Weegee who is one of the most important photographers of the mid century.Printed in grauve and full of many of his now classic images of the people of the city in all their urban dispair. The book is lacking the dustjacket, The cloth is clean with light fading to the type on the front and the spine panel.Slight shaking to the book, and a resonable price for a rare and unique book. There is no printing history on the copyright page, the rough cloth is the correct style for the first edition and first printing, but the points get confusing for this title so I not saying that it is a later printing.

The film had a tangy script (Oscar nom. for best story), on location cinematography in New York City that won William Daniels a well deserved Oscar and several fine performances. Illustrated with 12 stills and a long afterword by Malvin Wald. Laid in is an errata slip. This is the true first American Edition with all the correct points including the $6.00 price on the front flap, no roman numeral on lower spine near back panel and , no zip code listed on back cover with the address of Grove Press. Also has the photo of Burroughs on the upper corner of the back panel of the dustjacket credited to Martha Rocher and critical blurbs by Norman Mailer, Robert Lowell and Jack Kerouac. Burroughs broke new ground with this novel with his use of the development of experimental fiction, as well as presenting forbidden subject matter (addiction and homosexuality). Made into a David Cronenberg film in 1991. featuring Peter Weller, Judy Davis, Ian Holm, Julian Sands, and Roy Scheider. The screenplay for the impressive masterpiece by Abel Gance that has had a long & strange history beginning with its premiere in 1927 and its incredible restored showing at Radio City Music Hall 54 years later. Includes scenes that were either cut or lost along with 38 stills. Small scrape to the front cover, and small remainder punched hole to the back cover, the book itself is vg. Also included is the rare 24pg. souvenir program from the restored showing that includes a fold-out of the triptych section of the film and is very well illustrated with photos and stills. A touch of very minute creasing to the corners of the front and back covers. Vg. Sold as a collection only.
