Illustrated with four colour lithographs, various other illustrations, and two maps in colour on a folding plate at the rear. Frontispiece plate repaired and laid onto a fresh leaf, occasional marks throughout but generally bright and clean. Binding rebacked with the original cloth laid down, some bumping to corners and rubbing to extremities, spine faded with the gilt dulled.

This futuristic pamphlet, which drew some notice and reviews at the time, proposes a system of natural gas pipelines following railway lines, feeding highly efficient natural gas engines...a system that was not to be realized fully for decades. Westinghouse cites many advantages of natural gas to supplant coal fired electric energy.
