Small and decorative map of the northeastern part of Germany mainly covering Pommerania, Saxony and Silesia towards the borders of Poland. The Geographer Hermann Moll worked came originally from the Netherlands and worked in London in the beginning for Moses Pitt. Later he became one of the important map publishers in England. The atlases, which he published were widely well known. He engraved as well maps for other English publishers (John Seller, etc.). In very good condition. Augsburg: Johann Lorenz Rugendas, 1809. Other. 450 by 550mm (17¾ by 21¾ inches).. Original Kupferradierung mit Aquatinta, altkoloriert. Dargestellt wird die Einnahme und Erstürmung der Stadt Ebersberg am 3. Mai 1809 durch die französischen Truppen. Fine aquatint in original hand color by the famous German painter Johann Lorenz Rugendas from Augsburg. J.L. Rugendas made the drawings for his famous serious of the Napoleonic battles himself and the sketches were mostly drawn at the authentic locations. He used for his copper engravings the aquatint technique, which allowed only a very small edition of examples to print. It is said that the Napoleonic battle scenes by Rugendas only were published in a number of 150 to 300 copies depending on the battle.

Hand colored copper engraving, published in Paris ca. 1623-27 in the famous flower book 'Theatrum Florae'. Daniel Rabel's flower book is one of the most beautiful sets of engravings of flowers ever published. Some of these fine engraved flower prints are additional ornated with various butterflies and insects. The style of the engraving is very similar to the 'de Bry' flower plates, although Rabel's works is occasionally found to be bound to the works by Maria Sybilla Merian.
