This was the second appearance of any section of the novel in print, following the Spring issue of the journal. For those keeping track, the headline above the text contains the misprint "William C. Burroughs." "The 1958 appearance of a Naked Lunch excerpt in the Chicago Review created a scandal that ended in the resignation of the magazine's two editors, Irving Rosenthal and Paul Carroll.
