Copies 'xx' of thirty E.A. copies numbered in roman, and signed by Butor and Masurovsky in each volume. A record of collaborations over 15 years. Masurovsky studied at Black Mountain College in 1947-8, and subsequently settled in Paris. In 2004 he was featured in an exhibition and workshop at Black Mountain College Museum and Arts Center marking the publication of BLACK MOUNTAIN COLLEGE DOSSIER NO. 8: GREGORY MASUROVSKY.

[Brantwood, Coniston, Windermere, Lancashire: Reprinted from the ENGLISH REPUBLIC, ca. 1850s].. [2]pp. Octavo broadsheet (22.5 x 14.5 cm), printed recto and verso. Small chip at extreme top left forecorner, otherwise near fine. First separate printing of this essay by the radical chartist and illustrator, William James Linton, and identified as a product of his private press at Brantood. The article first appeared in the pages of Linton and Watson's monthly, the ENGLISH REPUBLIC (1851- 1855). Linton would later take leave of the UK and establish his own press in Hamden, CT. Dublin: Printed by S. Powell, for G. and A. Ewing, 1745.. 8pp. Quarto. Extracted from nonce pamphlet volume. Early manuscript indexing number in upper margin of title, otherwise a very good copy. First edition. On the occasion of its presentation, this Ode was set to music by Matthew Dubourg, "Chief Composer and Master of the Music attending His Majesty's State in Ireland." Neither this copy nor any of the copies of record include a printed form of the music. Burroughs (1714-1786), a Trintiy College graduate, was called upon to compose similar Odes marking the same occasion in 1743 and 1747. Toward the end of his career, he served as Archdeacon of Derry. Sewing absent, with leaves loose, otherwise very good and clean. Second edition, published the same year as the first. The constituent odes are addressed to Memory, Independency, Melancholy, and the Fate of Tyranny, the last printed in parallel with the texts from Isaiah that catalyzed Mason's text. ESTC T42015. Translations into French, with a Foreword by Ibarra, and with a Preface to the French edition by Borges. Published as vol. DXLII of "Du Monde Entier."

Private bookplate on half-title (with tiny adhesion mark opposite), otherwise about fine in matching cloth and boards slipcase. First edition, limited issue. Foreword by Lawrence Clark Powell. From an edition of five hundred copies, this is copy 30 of 50 copies specially bound by D'Ambrosio, signed by Ritchie, Lawrence Clark Powell, Michael Dawson and Muir Dawson. Reflections on Ritchie's experiences and friendships with Jeffers, Landacre, Armitage, John Cage, Jane Grabhorn, Jake Zeitlin, and others.

Usual slight tanning to endsheets, thin cracks to inner hinges, small bookseller's ticket on front pastedown, hint of foxing at edges, otherwise a very good copy (without the scarce dust jacket) in half morocco folding clamshell case. First British edition, first printing, from stereotype plates of the slightly earlier U. S. edition. This copy conforms to the first issue, with a list of other "Works" by Maugham facing half-title, together with the publisher's ad page for "New Six Shilling Novels" on the verso of the half-title, and with the misprint on page 257, line 4 ("help" for "helped"), and the 16 pp. of inserted terminal adverts. The author's most widely known novel and a difficult book to find in fine condition. The source work for three film adaptations: 1934, 1946 and 1964. STOTT A21b. ROTHSCHILD 85.

[Lexington, KY: Stamperia del Santuccio, 1958].. [8]pp. Small folio (27 x 19 cm). Blue-grey paper boards, printed spine label. Small nick at toe of spine, otherwise about fine. First edition of this translation by Fr. Augustine Wolff of the Abbey of Gethsemani ("a Trappist monk" unidentified in the colophon). The text is a selection from DE ANTIQUARIIS. Published as Opus XIV of the press in an edition of fifty press-numbered copies printed on Magnani paper in black, red and blue, by Carolyn Hammer, with an opening pictorial initial cut from brass by Victor Hammer. This is designated as copy 7. Holbrook indicates there was "no edition binding," but this binding is certainly typical of at least a few copies. By virture of the limitation, rather scarce. One of a total edition of 29 copies printed on Fabriano handmade paper. Laid in front is an autograph calligraphic letter, Athens, GA,, 12-17-90, from Dwight Agner to "Emerson," regretting their not having gotten together to visit at a Typocrafters meeting. Contributors include Paul Duensing, Alexander Lawson, Hec Mann, John Schappler, et al. A portfolio of ephemera mentioned in the colophon is not present with this copy. Scarce. [Detroit: Labadie Shop, ca. 1920s ?].. 16mo. Sewn printed wrappers. Terminal leaf printed on tanned paper, offset to facing leaf, some slight soiling to outer wrapper, otherwise about fine, unopened. First edition of this joint collection of verses by the Michigan anarchists. This is a variant form of the booklet also distributed as VERSES, here with an additional printed outer wrapper bearing the above title along with the VERSES wrapper. Scott (1847-1928) was a Detroit artist and poet and the constituent poems by him are identified. OCLC: 77679450.

[Council Bluffs, IA: The Yellow Barn Press, ca. 2001].. [24]pp. Small folio (32.2 x 23.5 cm). Six loose bifolia, laid into printed wrapper. A few minuscule spots to the upper wrapper, wrapper corners very faintly bumped, otherwise about fine, internals very fine. A sampling from the leaves, "Being left-over pages from the plate section printed offset and the text pages printed letterpress." The edition consisted of 175 numbered copies designed and printed by Neil Shaver in Monotype Perpetua set by the Bixlers on Zerkal paper. A substantial number of the illustrations are wood-engravings by John De Pol.

[Toronto: Nelson Adams at the Coach House Press, 1971].. Narrow folio broadside (41 x 20.5 cm). Printed in dark brown on pale tan stock. Fine. A very uncommon Ginsberg broadside, signed by him in ink in the lower right corner. It bears neither a publisher's imprint, nor a limitation notice. This special issue was prepared, with the author's participation, for sale by his Wichita Falls colleagues, Three Dog Books.

A lovely copy in bright, fresh, crisp pictorial dust jacket showing only very minor use at the edges and a 1.5 cm closed tear at the top edge of the front panel (but see below). First edition in book form, Grissom's binding A and dust jacket A. This is, however, a freak copy, cased with the spine stamping upside down when originally bound for the publisher. Laid in is a description of this "brilliant copy" by Sessler's in Philadelphia -- one of at least two booksellers who did not note the binding aberration. Minute tear at fore-edge of leaf vii/viii, otherwise fine and bright, though wanting the dust jacket and slipcase. The first printing of the first edition illustrated by Frederic Remington, without the "List of Illustrations" added to the second printing. First edition of this element in an extended controversy brought on by the English theologian's unorthodox views. "By the study of Origen and the other early Fathers, [Woolston] became possessed with the notion of the importance of an allegorical or spiritual interpretation of Scripture, and advocated its use in the defence of Christianity both in his sermons and in his [writings], while attacking what he saw as the shallow literalist interpretation of contemporary divines ... For many years he published nothing, but in 1720-1721 the publication of letters and pamphlets in advocacy of his assessment of the Old Testament, with open challenges to the clergy to refute them, brought him into trouble. Boston, January 1978 - July 1982.. Sixteen issues. Printed wrappers. A handful of corners bumped, wrapper of #10 shows some dust spotting along the spine, the remainder about fine. Edited and published by Cid Corman. Publication was generally quarterly, and distribution non-commercial. Corman's ORIGIN was among the most vital and interesting of American periodicals devoted to contemporary poetry and translations. The format of featuring a specific author in each issue was persistent.
