Bound in sumptuous full maroon calf bearing gilt rules and lettering to the spine, and front board. Lovely gilt dentelle to the inner margins of the boards, gorgeous marbled endpapers, and all gilt edges. Rich with many lovely vignette engravings [attributed to Samuel Harding (see ESTC. No. 001032962)]. A few superficial scuffs to the lovely leather extremities, period ink name to the front endpapers, else, text-block remains quite bright, clean, and unmarked with firm, sound binding. A most handsome presentation of an unusual, and scarce title in a lovely period binding. "Authorship of part 1 attributed also to P.D. Stanhope, 4th earl of Chesterfield; of part 2 also to John Hill, M.D."
