Softcover, off-white card cover with color drawing on front and rear of book advertising the authors other joke books. Exterior shows edge and corner bumps/creasing along with soiling and toning. Top edge of front has a small tear and there's a spot near the right corner where there is loss to the finish of the paper - likely caused by a price sticker that was removed. Internal binding is good with only minor spotting to the staples. Is a very small stain in the upper outside corner of the first 20 pages (see photo). Paper is toned due to age but remaining binding is tight. Book has been placed in a archival bag.

Orig. 1/4 buckram, blue marbled paper covered boards.16 b/w pencil illus. by Barbara Turner. 80pp, DJ price clipped. null Rare to find with original DJ, though DJ is toned and cracking at spine with portion missing at lower spine area. Book is clean though end pages show moderate foxing. Binding tight. Only handwriting is on dedication page where child's first name was written in pencil.

Hardcover, blue cloth boards with red text on front and spine. Exterior shows some toning, spotting and soiling along with fading to the spine. Edges and corners show bumps. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. The front end page shows some light crimping along with the lower corner missing but the rest the pages are in good shape the end pages and half title page have a few light pinkish smudge marks but text pages are clean. Each title is numbered separately for a total of 316 text pages.

Praze (Prague): Jos. R. Vilimka, 1894. Hardcover. Fair. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, plain black cloth boards with no lettering or design at all. Exterior cloth was crudely bound and exterior shows scuffing and soiling along with edge and corner wear/bumps. NOTE: The internal binding is very fragile. The paper is brittle and darkened and there is some concern that the pages will snap out because of the type of paper used. At the time of this listing all pages were still attached but some of the pages in the back, starting at 465 are precariously hanging on - literally by a thread. The same can be said for the title page. There is no handwriting or bookplates but the title page contains a stamp belonging to a church library in New York. No other library markings found. This volume contains numerous illustrations, some in color and some black and white. The only copyright date found was at the end of the preface. The entire book is in Czech.

See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original full leather binding with gilt and maroon to spine. Leather is unrestored and in its original state along with edge and corner bumps/wear. Leather is also cracking at both exterior hinges and is scratched and scuffed. Internal binding is good and interior hinges are good other than some pulling in areas. Pages are toned due to age and spotting/foxing is present throughout. Some pages also has some small corner folds which were straightened out but the creases are still present. Exterior shows spotting and scuffing along with edge and corner bumps/wear. Top of spine shows tearing to the cloth. The internal binding of the text pages is tight but the front hinge is cracked in the rear hinge is starting. Pages are toned/darkened due to age and type of paper used but pages are clean. The only handwriting found in the book is at the top of the second front end page where "Pa-Lancaster, 1893" is lightly written in pencil. No other markings noted, nothing torn or loose, no library markings, no bookplates, no other handwriting found. York, PA: Published by the Author, 1951. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, blue cloth boards with gilt text on front and spine. Exterior shows minor spotting and handling wear, corners are very mildly bumped. The biggest issues on the exterior is there is a drip stain on the front board just above the title along with some very faint sunning, which is the only reason why this book does not grade higher. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Paper is toned due to age with some very light spotting present, mainly limited to the end pages. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found.

New York: D. Appleton & Company, 1871. 2nd Edition . Hardcover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, dark orange cloth boards with gilt text on spine. Exterior is spotted and soiled and shows bumping and wear to corners, cloth is splitting at the exterior hinge area at the upper left of front. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues, even at boards. Pages are toned due to age and foxing is present throughout. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings. Only handwriting found is on the front end page where there is faint penciling of either a price or initials the upper right corner. The rear end page has some tearing and light creasing near the lower outside corner. Title page states "Second American Edition".

London: William Heinemann Ltd., 1956. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. The original price of 16s Net still present on the front flap. DJ shows toning and light spotting along with edge wear and tear/small chips. Underside of jacket shows some light staining. Blue cloth boards underneath or clean except for some spotting on the spine and lower section. Edges also show light bumps. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks. The only evidence of handwriting is on the front end page, Rico just barely see where a price was once penciled in the corner and then later erased. Pages are lightly toned but clean. The end pages and pastedowns do show foxing and tanning, which is due to the dust jacket paper reacting with the book pages over the decades.

New York: John Wiley & Sons, 1910. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original blue cloth boards with gilt text on spine. Exterior shows some light scuffing and toning/spotting and the only reason this book is not grade NF or better is because there are two circular spots on the rear board, each one measures 1.5 inches in diameter. Edges and corners show light bumps/wear. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues even at the dark brown end pages. No bookplates or library markings, nothing torn, no signatures. There is a name stamp on the title page: Dr. James P. McKelvy, Pittsburgh PA.. The title page also has a tipped in index card size piece of paper which is written a reference to the criticism of the author's theory. No other handwriting found in the book. Pages are toned along the edges but are crisp and clean, binding is tight. A very rare title to find, especially in the 1910 original publication.

Paris: Beauce, 1817. Hardcover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcovers, four volume set bound in full leather. Condition grades of each volume vary due to the exterior bindings. The interior bindings of all four volumes is very good and text pages are tight but the exterior hinges for the boards are cracked and volume 2 has the front board completely detached. The books grade from good- to poor, with an overall condition grade of fair. Volume 1 (570 pages) shows the rear hinge cracked with the rear board only held on by the binding string, volume 2 (508 pages) as the front board detached some chipping at the top of the spine, volume 3 (751 pages) is cracked at the front hinge, volume 4 (576 pages +114 pages of index and 8 pages of subscriber names) shows the rear board cracked and only hanging on by the binding string. Paris: Chez De Hansy, 1794. Hardcover. Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, full leather binding with gilt to spine. Book is in poor condition, with the front board detached as well as the front end page and title page. The leather to the spine shows chipping at top and bottom and is only held on by the rear board hinge area. The remaining pages are well bound with no issues. Pages are tone due to age and foxing is present throughout. A couple pages had small corner folds and page 65 has a chip missing from the bottom of the page, which is well outside of the text area. There is some minor handwriting which is done in pencil. There is a small signature lightly penciled on one of the rear end pages and opposite the title page has a few letters lately written in pencil along the top edge. Philadelphia, PA: The John C. Winston Company, 1932. Hardcover. VG+/Good-. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. DJ is heavily worn with soiling and chipping, top edge was repaired with masking tape which is now old and browned. The DJ get a good job protecting the cover his book exterior shows only very minor handling along the extreme edges. Boards are covered in a brown felt with gilt to front and spine. End pages are free and clear of any handwriting or bookplates. Pages are toned due to age and some very minor foxing is present. Binding good, no hinge issues, no notes are handwriting found on any pages.

Exterior shows some minor soiling spotting to the cloth, edges and corners show minor bumping/wear. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting, no name stamps, no underlining etc. Pages are mildly toned but are clean though there is some light foxing spots present on the exterior page edges.

Richmond, VA: Virginia Historical Society, 1885. Hardcover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, two volume matched set bound in pebbled brown cloth with paper labels to spine. Exterior shows quite a bit of wear and spotting, both paper labels have sections missing and are barely readable. Volume 2 has some damage along the outside spine edge. Overall interior binding is good with no major issues. There is some pulling but all text pages are secure. Both books contain quite a bit of pencil notes and underlining which is probably present on 10 -15% of the total amount of pages. There are a few scattered tears: volume 1 has the lower corner missing of the front and page volume 2 has a tear just over an inch on the fore edge and page 465 has the corner missing on the upper right. Washington, DC: The Society of the Fifth Division, 1919. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG+. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, half brown suede with brown cloth sides. Suede is decorated in black and gilt. Exterior shows minor corner bumping and light handling, suede is still soft but there is one issue spot - just below the title on the spine there is a tear that measures about one half of an inch. Internal binding is good and only binding issue found is at page 294 where there is a very thin crack can be easily repaired. No hinge issues, no signatures, no library markings, no handwriting found. Pages are toned due to age but are clean except for some minor foxing spots which are mainly near the end pages. The preface page has some minor chipping of the paper finish along the top edge but this was the only issue found. Washington, DC: Government Printing Office, 1893. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Good-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Softcover, special edition. Produced for the 53rd Congress, extraordinary session. A unique short-lived publication as another directory was produced on October 10th of the same year. Rare to find an original wraps as most permanent additions were produced in hardcover. This one's a bit rough, the front cover is separated almost 4 inches from the top, front shows shipping to the corners along with creases in soiling, rear board is sold with shipping as well. Spine is missing pieces at top and bottom. Internal binding is good, pages or tone due to age and foxing is present. Her handwriting found, no bookplates, no library markings. Book is in place in a protective display bag.

Warswaza (Warsaw, Poland): Panstwowy Instytut Wydawniczy, 1971. Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. DJ is toned and a bit tattered with numerous chips and tears, the largest being on the backside which measures almost 3 inches. Tan cloth boards underneath show minor soiling along with light edge and corner bumps. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. The text is in Polish and the book contains both volumes, volume 1 contains 413 pages in volume 2 contains another 401.

Columbus, OH: Published for the Society, 1899. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, green cloth boards with gilt text on spine. Exterior shows spotting and soiling with loss to the finish of the cloth, particularly on the back. Edges and corners show minor bumps/wear. Internal binding is good except for a small spot the rear board that measures just over 2.5 inches where there is a opening starting. Internal pages are darkened due to age and type of paper used and there is some minor spotting/foxing present. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings. Both the front and rear pastedowns do have a presentation stamp stating: "From Chas K Patterson, Ohio Senate, 83D General Assembly" which are the only markings found in the book.

Columbus, OH: The Heer Press, 1917. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, maroon cloth boards with gilt text on spine. Exterior shows little handling wear though front board has dark area along the top and right edges where it appears a book set for quite some time while the cover was exposed, possibly to sunning. Interior binding is good, no hinge issues and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates present, no library markings. Pages are tanned due to type of paper used and age. Front pastedown has a very thin crease in the paper. This is from when the book was originally created. This copy would normally grade higher as far as condition but the front board discoloring issue has lowered it to VG.
