Baker, III had a long and distinguished career having served in various roles under Presidents Ford (Sec. of Commerce 1975-76), Reagan (White House Chief of Staff 1981-85 and US Sec. of the Treasury 1985-88) & H.W. Bush (White House Chief of Staff 1992-93, US Sec. of State 1989-92). During his tenure as Sec. of State, the world witnessed the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the end of the Cold War as well as the Gulf War in Iraq. Less known is his work blocking the recognition of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) by threatening to cut funding to agencies in the UN. Mr. Baker is a leader of the Climate Leadership Council.
