This is an antique copy of "Peter Schlemihl" by Aldebert von Chamisso (translated from the German by Sir John Bowring). 1874 3rd edition (stated); A. Denham & Co.; New York. This edition features full-page illustrations by GEORGE CRUIKSHANK. In the story, Schlemihl sells his shadow to the Devil for a bottomless wallet, only to find that a man without a shadow is shunned by human societies.

Condition:
Clean covers. Bright gilt lettering on the front cover and spine. The top and bottom edges of the spine are worn. There is a 2.5" cloth tear at the bottom-right edge of the spine where it meets the front cover. Tight binding. The front end paper, frontispiece and title page are attached, but have partially pulled from the spine. The pages are mostly clean with a small, light stain at the outer margin of pages 52-65. There is an old bookplate and bookshop label affixed to the front pastedown. A name/date (1875) is written in pen at the top-right corner of the title page. Overall the book is in Good- condition.

Description:
Nice condition vintage copy of "PINOCCHIO" by Carlo Collodi. 1932; Garden City Publishing Co.; New York. This edition features four full-page illustrations in color by Maud and Miska Petersham; illustrated end papers in color.

Condition:
Clean front cover and spine; some very light soiling on the back cover; sharp corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Nice interior - the pages are clean and nearly appear unread with only a children's name written in pencil on the front pastedown. Two pages at the front have a strip of clear tape along the gutter. Overall the book is in Very Good- condition.

This is a rare collection of two volumes of "THE PIRATE PIECE 304 F.A." which was the monthly newsletter of the 304th field artillery battalion. The volumes contain 119 issues (starting at Vol. 1 No. 1) from 1921 to 1931. Each issue contains four pages (with the exception of April 1926 which contains 8 pages).
