'Archbishop Edward Paget was a well-known personality in three countries: the United Kingdom, South Africa and Rhodesia. He was a member of a prominent ecclesiastical family, and in his early career worked in London's East End. When he came to South Africa after the First World War (in which, as a chaplain, he earned the M.C.), he was appointed Vicar of Benoni, and is particularly remembered for his courage in tending to casualties during the Rand Strike of 1922. But his main work was performed in Rhodesia. When he became bishop of Southern Rhodesia (as it then was) in 1925, he brought to his task a passion for development. First Edition..
