Scuffing to boards, wear to edges, old dampstain to top quarter of endpapers and margin of first and last couple pages (not affecting illustrations), old owner name to front board, bookplate of Smeathman Hatton (Virtus tutissima cassis) to front pastedown. Original pictorial printed wrappers, 21 pp, Records of experiments in pickling ripe and green olives by noted botaanis Frederic Theodore Bioletti (1865-1939). Bioletti arrived in California from his native Liverpool in 1878. He settledin Sonoma County. Before earning his Bachelors (1894) and Masters (1898) degrees from the University of California he worked in the wine cellar at Leland Stanford's Vina Ranch. He was UC's first Professor of Viticulture and the first chair of the Department of Viticulture and Enology. His researches in grape and olive production brought much benefit to both industries. Scarce.
