The three panoramas unfold in a continuous strip accordion format to ten panels with illustrated text on one side and color illustrations on the other side, showing the different activities in each setting. Conceived and executed by Alexandra Exter, Russian Constructivist stage designer and artist who emigrated to France in 1924 and opened her own atelier. Her experience in theater design gave her the concept of these album-panormas. No place, no date (Paris: Leon Vanier, circa 1890) Small folio, royhal blue boards with diagonal lettering and large vignette of Pierrot with a nimbus around his head, hanging from a lamp post, all in silver. Covers reconnected with a new spine in matching cloth, contents secured with new envelope flaps and velcro closure. Clean and bright. Complete with 41 loose sheets, as issued, including pictorial title and preface by the author. Each plate, except the title and preface, is followed by another plate containing the text in the hand of the authro and includes another drawing. Entirely engraved on chine. Willette contributed to the french illustrated press, decorated the nightclub Le Chat Noir and painted the ceiling of the music hall La Cigale. Pierrot, his alter-ego is the metaphor for the artist's plight in society. He falls in love with a wordly and greedy woman, is ridiculed and commits suicide.. Boards. About Fine. Louis-Philippe was brought to the throne as a constitutional monarch after the 1830 revolution. He was known as the "citizen king" but the monarchy became increasingly conservative and unresolved problems of the middle and working classes led to his overthrow in the 1848 revolution. With a 28 page foreword by an academic from a royal academy, list of contents and 24 hand colored engraved plates on 12 leaves illustrating the process of laying a floor made of chips of granite or marble set in concrete and polished to smoothness. Recently excavated classical ruins in rome influenced the popularity of crushed stone floors in Italy and Germany. The cheerful workmen including some young boys are stylishly dressed.
