Not an attractive copy but a copy with entirely clean pages - no inscriptions and so would make a very acceptable reading/reference copy.

A very good copy with gilt embossed vignette of three women having afternoon tea at a table to the front board and gilt embossed lettering to the spine. Illustrated with 18 charming colour plates tipped in with protective tissue guards - all as called for. Light sunning to the spine with a light bump to the upper edge of the rear board and two corners slightly bumped. Small neat name inscription to the corner of the front end paper. Toning to the end papers, half title page and last page of the book. Foxing throughout. A good plus copy of this antiquaian childrens book.

Slight splitting between two pages towards the rear of the book, nevertheless the book is firmly bound. A few lower page corner tips have been lightly creased, not affecting the text and a couple of page leaves are slightly stained at the lower corner, again not affecting the text. Clean and tight. A very good copy.

There is some sellotape ghosting to the end papers and the leading edge of the title page is slightly proud with a crease to the corner and margin. Light foxing to the fore edges and slightly to the first and laste few pages. A few pencil marks in the margins. Otherwise the book is clean and tight. A very good copy.
