Tennyson's eldest son Hallam Tennyson, 2nd Baron Tennyson served as his father's personal secretary and served as his official biographer. His Tennyson: a Memoir was published in 1897 and he bequeathed many of his father's notebooks to Trinity College in 1924. A significant association copy. Regarded as the chief representative of the Victorian age of poetry, English poet and dramatist, Alfred Lord Tennyson succeeded William Wordsworth as Poet Laureate in 1850.
