Soiling and wear to wraps; prominent red stains to front wrap verso and facing page (with some bleed-through to the first Autograph page). Includes the American luxury liner's souvenir Farewell Dinner Menu for Wednesday, August 24, 1932. The menu has been signed by Captain A. M. Moore, Commander, U.S.N.R., along with a multitude of the passengers. The passengers' places of origin are often listed next to their signatures. Utah residents include Allan L. Hansen of Fairview, L. Ward Barker of North Ogden, and Laurence S. Olsen of Salt Lake City. Other passengers hail from Boston, New York, Maryland, California and Nevada. The menu features Cream of Chicken a la Reine, Dover Sole a la Colbert, Entre Cote a la Chatelaine, Noisette of Lamb, and Yellow Mushrooms au Beurre.

Very good. 379pp. Vigesimoquarto (24mo) [11.5 cm] Full leather with embossed decorative circular and diamond patterns to the boards and backstrip, and the title in gilt on the backstrip (gilt a bit faded). Red speckled edges. Yellow coated endpapers. Moderate rubbing to the extremities; corners gently bumped; short splits in the boards at the ends of the joints; small cracks in the endpapers along the hinges. Despite the moderate wear, this hymnal is quite attractive, and is free of any markings. Flake/Draper 1768. Crawley 878. Chism 65. The 1854 hymnal is nearly a line-for-line reprint of the 1851 edition, but without the asterisks of that edition, and with a number of changes in punctuation and the removal of many contracted words.

Octavo [23 cm] Orange cloth covered boards with a sage green ink stamped title and wagon wheel vignette on the front cover. Very good. The edges of the spine and covers are very gently bumped and rubbed. The boards are just a tiny bit concave, and there is a minor stain on the top edge of the front board. There is also a very small light stain on one of the pages. Browned pages. The dust jacket is in good condition only, with rubbing and mild creasing and age-toning. There are numerous losses from the chipped edges. The largest losses are wide, but measure roughly one inch deep. There are a couple of small closed tears in the bottom edge and along the fold of the rear inside flap, and there is a 4 and 1/4 inch long thin open tear along the fold of the front inside flap. Fair condition only. The covers are rubbed. The underlying boards are exposed at the corners. Slight spine slant. The cloth at the ends of the spine is bumped and has several splits. One of the heading pages is detached, but present. The endsheets are a little soiled, and the pages are slightly browned. The text block is cracked multiple times. Subjects include Tom Thumb, Toads and Toadies, and A Chapter on Canes, Chinamen, and Other Objects of Interest.
