Description:
A reasonable copy of this important collection. Beautiful Bok dw, one of the ones that he did separations for himself and painted with printing inks so it would come out just as he wanted. The jacket, unfortunately, has a lot of closed tears, and the price is torn off rather than clipped; small piece missing from top of the spine, not affecting the spine illustration. DJ spine is yellowed. Slight discoloration of endpapers; previous owner's name under jacket flap. First edition stated on verso of title page (but then, this didn't have a book club or a reprint, did it?). Placeholder jacket, acceptable book: I can put it in a jacket protector if you want. Additional pictures available on request.

Description:
There are a few fantasy novels that are truly sui generis. From the opening ("If I had cared to live, I would have died" one of the best narrative hooks ever!) to its satisfying return of the protagonist to the Real World, this book does not let up as it romps through English literature (with bits of American and other classical tropes tossed in). If you don't know the book, you probably aren't going to buy a hardcover even at this reasonable price; if you do know the book, you probably want a better jacket. So: here's a placeholder copy that you can read and reread. I'll add a jacket protector if you like, but this jacket is hardly worth protecting. Previous owner's name sticker on half-title.While I have your attention, let me say that Myers' other novels from before 1960 are paced in a very similar way -- they don't have the sense of a romp through literature, but The Wild Yazoo and Dead Warrior are both great introductions to the American West, and Out on Any Limb is an amusing UK historical. Description:
Sauk City WI: Arkham House, 1941 (actually 1966). Second edition. Hardcover. Fine/fine. Second edition of this second book from Arkham House, containing Derleth's favorites of his weird fiction shorts up to this date. One of 300 copies of this version. Most of the copies of this version are in excellent condition -- many more are signed (like this one) than are copies of the first. This one is inscribed to a collector. A comparison of the jackets shows the second is much muddier than the first, in terms of reproduction -- it was probably shot from a printed copy of the first. Derleth did a remarkable job of matching the paper on the jacket, though, right down to its lamentable tendency to fade if one shines so much as a flashlight on it. A serious "Tell me again why I wanted to become an Arkham House completist?" item, with a nice Derleth inscription as some justification for going for this copy. TW

Description:
Third of the Johnny Dixon/Professor Childermass books. There's a trope here: once something supernatural happens to someone, more supernatural things will happen to them. The world doesn't go back to being normal. That may be true (from my experience, it seems so); does your world look like that?A nice one-owner copy of this book, lower jacket flap clipped to remove library binding information; a clean first trade impression, not ex-lib and hard to find thus. More pix available upon request.

Description:
First American edition of a book publsihed the same year in England as "An Experiment with St. George", probably to play off the author's success with "An Experiment with Time." Which is odd, because the former is a scientific attempt to look at how time works around dreams, and this is a children's book. Ah, well, marketing. The British edition has illustrations by F. Rojankovsky which are quite different from the Lloyd Coe illustrations in this edition. This copy is bumped at the edges and corners; previous owner's name in pencil on front free endpaper. The jacket is somewhat frayed and has penciled arrows drawn around the front illustration; the price is clipped from the upper corner of the front flap, and hte lower corner is clipped as well (both corners are present on another copy I have examined). There is a small abrasion affecting the spine illustration (see pictures). As of the time of this listing, Binding is yellow cloth with red illustrations and text. I see no other copies of this… Read More

Description:
Canoga Park CA: Major Books, 1977. Second edition. Mass Market Paperback. Good/no dustjacket (as issued). Revised and enlarged edition of the Brandon House scarcity Known Homosexual. Not quite as rare, but still uncommon, with limited distribution upon its initial publication. One of Hansen's lesser books, very uncommon in either edition. This is not an exceptional copy -- the binding is tight, the pages are clean with some edge-toning from the low-quality paper, but the covers are badly toned and splotchy. No wear, just discoloration. Reading crease on spine. If you're looking for a sturdy but unattractive copy -- this is perfect for you. No tears, minimal wear.
