Reservoir Dogs was Tarantino's first feature-length film and follows a gang of color-named criminals after a simple jewelry heist goes wrong, all skeptical that one of them is an informant. The dialogue heavy, nonlinear and controversial violent style established Tarantino's career and is considered a milestone of independent cinema for its shoe-string budget and critical acclaim at Sundance Film Festival. The third in Johnson's Superspade series, the story follows Richard Spade as he helps a black politician get elected despite pressures from neighborhood organized crime. Cover shows photo of a Spade walking through an open door, the cross-hair of a gun fixed on his figure, two women posing suggestively before him. The 1970s saw a proliferation of novels like this one which fall under the pop cultural subgenre of blaxploitation. The term describes work that relies on racial stereotypes for its plot points, although it is often embraced by African American pop culture. Slight shelfwear. Textblock tight and clean. Kinnear, a radical Scottish politician and lawyer, advocates for the integration of women's labor wherever appropriate: "there are other things which women can do at least as well as men...Then why should women not do it?" He brings up the need to defend women workers in the changing atmosphere, as they were prevented from "form[ing] effective trade unions to secure their rights" at the same time that increased industrialization was displacing them from factory labor jobs.
