"The work is a collection of 14 stories by Bret Harte selected with the assistance of Oscar Lewis who wrote an introduction. Bound in brown cloth titled in gilt on the spine and on the front cover with a raised gilt image of a gold nugget. The book is laid into the original glassine dust wrapper and a gold clamshell box. The top edge is gilt. xii, [4] & 223 pages plus colophon, illustrated by Fletcher Martin with 14 half-page and 14 full-page color drawings, one of each for the 14 stories. Fine in a very good glassine dust wrapper and a Good Plus clamshell box - which is shelf worn.
