Title page with color diagram of a wine press. Lacks front free end paper. Front hinge separating with some loose gatherings and one leaf torn near binding.
From the preface "My principal intention in this Treatise has been to give a concise description of the art of preparing the several varieties of Wine which may be made from fruits of domestic growth, to enable those who possess no knowledge of the subject to proceed with facility and success." Accum was an extremely accomplished chemist, and member of the Royal Academy of sciences his publications were, in his own words,.."it has been my purpose to express all necessary rules and instructions in the plainest language, divested of those recondite terms of science, which would be out of place in a work intended for general perusal.
